Capitalism is EVIL!

..... but not for me, just for the rest of you idiots.

Michael Moore makes a movie discussing the evils of capitalism while benefiting from that very system. Shouldn't the movie be free and Moore nor anyone else involved in the production make any money off of the film? Or perhaps all the proceeds can be evenly redistributed to the poor, the unemployed, or those without health care?

Moore must be laughing all the way to the bank as a bunch of mindless poor saps pay to watch his horrendous "documentary."

I was forced to watch Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" in college and felt myself getting progressively dumber as I watched it. It was quite literally a worthless, steaming pile of cow dung. You have to wonder how folks can actually consider Moore's movies factual. Lucky for Michael Moore there's no shortage of suckers in this country.

H/T to the coolest librarian I know.

Reloads

Georgia-Arms reloads. Yes/no? I'm a bit hesitant to buy reloads but the Speer Frangible stuff I have is pain to clean. It leaves what looks like sand in my P229R. The price for the GA reloads and the factory new Speer Frangible is about the same.

Quote of The Day - Trust

"Some people simply do not trust armed, law-abiding citizens, so those citizens must simply walk into the proverbial gas chambers and give up their rights in order to satisfy those who do not trust them. Well, I hate to break it to the would-be totalitarians of our world, but my rights are not predicated on your trust - they exist whether you want them to or not, and I will exercise them, whether you want me to or not. Ain't freedom grand? "

-Linoge

So much of what we see from the anti-rights crowd boils down to this. They live in fear and simply do not trust their fellow citizens with the inherent, inalienable right endowed to them. Their fears of those rights being potentially misused are paramount to the rights themselves, so the power of the State must be used to place as many restrictions as possible on their exercize. This makes sense when you realize that these folks see government not as a necessary evil, but as as the nanny/parent who should tell everyone (but them) what to do.

Reefer Madness

"In the US last year, 754,224 people were arrested for possession (not dealing or production) of marijuana."

It is, as Steve put it, simply insane.

If there's one University of Delaware policy I fully agreed with it was that they didn't arrest people for simple marijuana possession. The money and resources wasted by arresting folks for possession of weed is simply astounding.

Also, speaking from personal experience, it sucks having to divulge that you've been arrested even if it was for something trivial and there was no conviction.

No Blog for You

There won't be any blogging here for the next week or so. I know it's a tragedy, but fear not dear readers, your lives will go on. Read some of my old entries if you like and don't forget about the blogroll on the right side of your screen.

I'll be back.

Common Sense in Federal Court

"Leave open carriers alone unless you have "reason to believe that a crime is afoot."

Posting
-U.S. District Court Judge Bruce D. Black

It is refreshing to see citizens successfully suing the government for violation of their Constitutional Rights.

Had the theatre manager simply asked him to leave Mr. St. John would have done so, the police would never have been called, and this whole situation would have been avoided. The police had no authority whatsoever to do anything to Matthew St. John, as there was no wrongdoing on his part.

Which do you prefer, double or single stack pistols?

Quote of The Day - One More Law

"a man with a gun and restraining order against him (illegal) violated that order (illegal) and shot his family (also, illegal). Why, if only one more law could make it a bit more illegal, then it would never happen."

- Uncle

If the current laws aren't stopping violent people from committing violent acts lets just make the crimes they're already committing illegaler. That'll learn em'!

The sad thing is that folks like MikeB actually believe that if we pass just one more law the violent people will see the errors of their ways, sit down, hold hands & sing kumbaya with the rest of us.

The MSM and Guns - An Illustration

Xavier has an interesting picture and caption from the AP. I am continually dumbfounded by such "mistakes" since literally 2 seconds with Google would have cleared this up.

Word Substitution

I find that one of the best ways to determine the bigotry of a particular statement is to change the target group. If an anti-gunner makes a bigoted statement about gun owners simply replace the targeted group with one they are sympathetic towards. I prefer to use "blacks" and "gays" for illustrative purposes.

Take this statement for example made by Pandora, one of Delaware Liberal's esteemed contributors.

"One of mike w’s problems is that he demands we all trust every gun owner, and that’s just not realistic. I have no idea who these people are – they are strangers – and, yes, I would be intimidated if I attended a meeting and there were people openly carrying guns – because I DON’T KNOW THEM!"

Let's ignore the fact that Pandora's claim made in the 1st sentence has never been espoused by myself nor any 2nd Amendment supporter.

Now let's change her words a bit. I will not change anything but the target of her ire. I could just as easily say "woman voter" or use gays kissing in public as an example.

"One of Mike W.'s problems is that he demands we all trust every black voter, and that’s just not realistic. I have no idea who these black voters are – they are strangers – and, yes, I would be intimidated if I went to the polls and there were large black men voting – because I DON’T KNOW THEM!"

Should those large black men stay home from the polls because some people are distrusting of them and are intimidated by their mere presence? Should they stay home from protests lest they unintentionally intimidate another protestor? The bigotry of such a statement doesn't change based on the group targeted. The fact that anti-gunners are so often deeply offended by such comparisions only further illustrates this point.

Update

It would appear Joe Huffman and I are on the same page. We said almost the exact same thing one day apart. As usual Joe said it better than I did. Yes, bigotry is an ugly thing. These bigots should be exposed and ridiculed whenever possible until their views are seen as so socially repugnant that they're ashamed and afraid to express them in public.
