Backordered ammo is on the way, which makes me quite gay. That's it, I have nothing witty left to say, at least not anything you'd want to read anyway.
Now go away and enjoy the rest of your Friday!

Why I Love College Campuses
Where else can you get 23 oz. draft beers for the regular price of $2.50 all day, 7 days a week? (and to think they were $2 when I was at UD) Of course at the other end of the spectrum I paid $6.75 for a Bud at the Phillies game.
I swear I don't think I'll ever get used to paying inflated prices for crappy light beer. Everything outside of Newark is 3 times more expensive and I'm still a poor college student at heart.
Oh, and a word of advice. Don't drink Bud Light Lime just because it's half price. Whoever decided that brewing beer with artificial lime flavoring in it was a good idea should hang his head in shame.
Ok folks, there's your random, completely off-topic Monday post.
Update - Sorry - Had a little fun with a blithering idiot poking around in the comment section. My apologies for going off-topic.

Quote of the Day
"Some say a gun is a killing instrument. Man is a killing instrument. The gun is only a tool, from which we have the pure mechanical force which can keep one alive or take a life. As a tool it is as weak or as strong as he or she who hold it, as good or as bad as the collective soul that keeps it in working order. The guns I own are defenders of good, soldier's weapons, officer's weapons, my weapons. "
-Brigid
RTWT!
Brigid sums it up eloquently as she always does. That undeniable truth seems so simple to us, and yet there are those who will never allow themselves to understand it. A Sig on my hip is no more a "killing instrument" than is the folding knife in my pocket or the fire extinguisher down the hall. Is my Sig a more effective tool for both legitimate self-defense and criminal behavior? Yes, but it's purpose and the outcome of its use are dependent entirely upon me. The weapon is irrelevant. The will of the user is what ultimately matters.

Just Shoot Me
I am watching President Obama's healthcare speech on CNN right now. Sure, he speaks well, but the BS coming out of his mouth makes me feel like this....
Holy shit he just said he's "very concerned about federal spending" and then went on to blame the current deficit on BUSH. What the Fuck?!

News to Me
Apparently I'm "menacing looking," at least according to this USA Today editorial. Me menacing looking? Thanks for the laugh USA Today. I mean hell, Breda's a tiny little thing, but at least she's got the Deathstare in her arsenal. I've got nuthin'.
If people with hidden guns are "menacing looking" then what does that make folks who open carry?
As usual we see the mainstream media continuing a neverending campaign to vilify gun owners. What's new?

Eeee!
Got my EeePC, with the P6 and P220ST for size comparison purposes. I really love this little thing. It's the 1000HE model with the non-funky keyboard.

Unfortunately my shooting plans were foiled this weekend. Mulching and other yardwork needed to be done and I wasn't about to let my parents do the heavy lifting.

Para GI Expert
Someone on my blogroll was talking about how they wanted one recently, but I can't remember who it was. Laura maybe?
Anyway, Mark has them for a pretty good price. 1911 Para GI Expert - $525 with 2 mags.
UPDATE - Speaking of the Para GI Expert, head over to Kevin's for a chance to win one.

Here's a Gem
I find it bizarre that Abbott is so concerned about Chicago, which is not located in Texas. Has it occurred to Abbott that Chicago's 3 million residents, through their duly elected officials, might actually want to keep their strict gun control law from 1982?
David J. Maschek
OK, and if some town in Mississippi decided to institute a law making slavery legal, or barring blacks from entering the town I guess Mr. Maschek thinks the rest of the country should just butt out of their business. After all, if it's what the residents want then to hell with the Constitution and to hell with the rights of those affected by said law, right?
On second thought, maybe this would be a great idea. My town can pass a law saying that no resident has to pay Federal income tax. I wonder how that'd go over?
I don't know why I'm surprised that anti-gunners keep making these inane arguments.

K31 Lovers
Check this out. Man talk about a beautiful rifle and a beautiful country. I'd consider buying a K-31 if 7.5 Swiss weren't so cost prohibitive.

Color Me Surprised
Remember this post? Well I stand corrected. Jack Markell actually signed SB139 into law.
What I don't get is why Delaware has a Firearms Transcation Approval Program in the 1st place.

Bigotry On Display
Again the tolerant progressives put their bigotry on display, and it's not pretty. I only read the article and the first 20 or so comments and that was more than enough. Can you really blame these folks though? They're merely following Dear Leader and channeling his contempt for gun owners.
I love how they call the NRA's ad campaigns against Obama "misinformation." It may be inconvenient if you're an Obama fanboy, but by no means was it "misinformation."
Nevermind that though, liberal/progressive "tolerance" is in full swing in the comments. It reads quite a bit like the comment thread of a gun post somewhere like Delaware Liberal or IggyDonnelly but without the accompanying logical and factual smackdown from the pro-gun crowd.

Happy Independence Day
I hope all of my 2 or 3 readers are having a great Independence Day. I'm chillin at the beach and am well stocked with some Honey Brown, Guinness, Newcastle, Dogfish Head & cookout food.
Couldn't think of a better way to spend the 4th.

Crap
Looks like Blogger ate my last post when I tried to edit it. I'll repost it later. Obviously any comments made to the original post will be lost, so please re-comment on the new one when it gets up.
But I Thought Guns Were the Problem?
Despite all of the gun control in the UK they are still suffering from alarmingly high violent crime rates. 2,034 per 100,000! Higher than any other EU country, higher than the U.S., and higher than South Africa. To put that crime rate in perspective, the rate in "gun-free" Washington DC for the year 2007 was 1,414.3 / 100,000. The rate for Delaware, where unenlightened, barbaric 'Murricans can strap on a gun and walk around legally was 689.2 / 100,000 in 2007.
Predictably, some idiot will come along and say that it's not true, that gun control in the UK has resulted in far less gun crime than other countries, including the U.S. Funny how they never seem to explain why "gun crime" should be the only determining factor in the discussion.
It would seem to me (and any other rational person) that if violent crimes with firearms decrease 25% but overall violent crimes jump 250% then then overall crime has increased and the country is in fact less safe. Kind of shoots holes in the whole argument that gun control is necessary for "public safety"huh? Then again, coming to such an obvious conclusion would require anti-gunners to be logical and rational. They routinely demonstrate that they are not.
I'm sure I'd be real safe living in a "gun-free" paradise where the violent crime rate is 3 times what it is here in Delaware.
Update - Linoge has an excellent synopsis of how the Brits got to this point. If you want to see the end results of the "progress" that the Brady's and other anti-gun bigots would like to take here in the U.S. look no further than Britain. If the anti-gunners got their way our gun laws would like those in the UK, with the same disasterous results.

That Liberal Media
Apparently President Obama is having a town-hall meeting today to discuss health care. The moderator for this meeting is his Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.
Imagine if Bush had used Karl Rove in such a capacity. The media would be screaming bloody murder.
