Quote of The Day

"One of the things that’s always been amazing about the left is that they do such an effective job of making people’s paranoid delusions seem to not, in fact, be paranoid delusions."

-Sebastian

Indeed. Who was it that said "It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you?"

Imagine the media frenzy if a Republican President had issued such an order. This order gives INTERPOL superauthority on U.S. soil while removing accountability measures. If they are not accountable to any U.S. law enforcement agency then exactly who do they answer to?

If Bush had issued an order proclaiming that foreign police could now operate inside the U.S. with full diplomatic immunity we would never hear the end of it in the MSM. Obama is President now, so I suspect we will see this get far less coverage .

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but it appears to me that this would allow INTERPOL to operate inside the U.S. without being subject to the restraints of the Constitution and American legal system. Such a power grab not only makes the Patriot Act look mild by comparison, it also erodes State sovereignty.

As Curtis Lowe said, State sovereignty is such a quaint idea.

Healthcare Pushback

In response to this bloated, unconstitutional behemoth of a bill that Obama and his cronies in Congress are trying to pass, Oklahoma lawmakers have filed the Freedom of Healthcare Choice Act.

Sadly the cynic in me sees this as no more than a symbolic jesture so long as the Courts remain in lockstep with the Federal government. The Feds routinely ignore the 10th Amendment, knowing full well that the judicial branch has and will continue to let them kill it.

The Federal government these days (Liberals and Conservatives) no longer concern themselves with silly, antiquated things like Constitutional Rights and limitations of power. The media seems wholly unconcerned as well and has not even thought to question whether Obamacare is Constitutional.

I have tried to write a post on the whole healthcare debacle, but the whole thing pisses me off too much. My Congressmen will support it regardless of the will of the people, myself included, and Mike Castle (RINO) says he'll support it and vote for it but can't be bothered to read it.

Is it time yet Claire?

Holiday Entertainment - Drunk Edition.

It you read one thing today it should be the comments to this post.

I am literally laughing out loud at work reading some of these. Personally I haven't written down some of my more infamous drunken adventures, mostly because I tend not to remember them.

Thank you Lissa, I needed a good laugh today! The story she quotes in her post is pure comedic gold.

I also liked this comment,

I passed out on top of my brother, then had to explain it to my parents.

It's like Eurotrip, only slightly less awkward and sans Absinthe and a little green fairy.

Quote of The Day - Funny But True

"I'm waiting for the Individual Carbon Dioxide Emission Tax."

-Commenter Robert @ Tam's.

As usual Tam delivers a heaping portion of Snark. Go get your daily dose.

I suspect an individual methane emission tax will be next in line. That'd sure cut down on chili with beans.

Carry On

Colorado State University, one of the few schools to allow CCW on campus, has now reversed that policy and created a "Gun-Free Zone."

Basically a bunch of academics (almost assuredly liberals) decided "guns are icky" and have no place on CSU's campus. It doesn't matter that school shooters and run-of-the-mill violent criminals carry guns within those gun-free zones. It doesn't matter that CCW at CSU was never an issue nor did it pose any threat to public or student safety.

Essentially they mandated defenselsssness based not on substantive data or any type of objective criteria, but because they "feel" that guns are bad. Presumably CSU's armed police force doesn't pose a threat to those on campus. I wonder if CSU will disarm them as well?

Given that the County Sheriff has publicly stated that he opposes CSU's policy and will not enforce it I say "carry on" to all those currently CCW'ing at CSU. As Sheriff Alderden said,"They ain't coming in my jail."

Remember, concealed means concealed and you'd only be violating CSU policy not the law. That decision depends on whether you're willing to violate school policy while retaining an effective means of self-defense. I know what I'd choose.

I also notice that the vice chair of the Board of Governors did the usual "I'm an advocate of the 2nd Amendment but...." The "but" being that he wants to prohibit CCW anyway. Do anti-gunners really think they're fooling anyone when they do this?

H/T to Dustin

UPDATE - I wanted to comment on something Sebastian discussed in his post. I'm not sure exactly how far CSU's new policy extends. My initial thought when writing this post was that they were prohibiting CSU students from carrying per the new University policy. Sebastian's post has me wondering whether CSU intends for this change to be a blanket CCW ban on their campus. If so I highly doubt they have the authority to make such a determination. They are a public University that has entered into contractual agreement with students and faculty. Such an agreement does not extend to others on the CSU campus.

As an example, University of Delaware policy bans guns, however their code of conduct is not binding against non-students / employees. If I wanted to lawfully OC in Newark, within the campus perimeter UD could not prohibit me from doing so. Whether the University could prohibit me from carrying into residence, lecture, or dining halls is a separate issue and I'm not sure I know the answer.

The Drink That Satisfies

Drambuie. A friend of mine from Maryland introduced me to this stuff. It's a scotch whiskey liquer that doesn't seem to be very popular but it's quite good. It could be a little less sweet though. (not to mention cheaper)

Transcending Race?

Not at the New York Times, where they've published a holiday gift guide especially for people of color.

Gee I wonder how the MSM would react if anyone, anywhere in America published a "holiday shopping guide for white folks?" How long before Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would come out of hiding and cry racism all over the airwaves?

Is it any wonder this country can't get beyond race when we're constantly, willfully dividing ourselves along racial lines?

PMC .223

LTDAmmo has some for $329.99 + shipping. That comes to roughly $6.90 per box. I love online vendors that have reasonable shipping prices.

SGCUSA has the same for $307.50 but shipping is expensive, even to the West Coast.

I've found PMC to be quality brass-cased ammo. It's a little dirty, but then again with an AR you're shitting where you eat anyway.

December Sig Sweepstakes

This month it's a Sig P250 2sum!

Quote of The Day - Capitalism

"So, here's CNN shilling for Government Run Centralized Health Command and yet the only way they can stay afloat is to run ads that inform their viewers that CNN is full of shit."

-Robb Allen

Funny how capitalism works isn't it? CNN lost me completely when Lou Dobbs left. There were a host of issues I disagreed with him on, but at least he actually did some reporting and was critical of both the Bush and Obama administrations. Who really wants to watch a bunch of talking heads fellate the President and Democratic Party leadership nearly 24/7? (and CNN's not even the worst offender)
