forfeiture laws

Here is an example of why I'm adamantly opposed to the drug war and particularly to drug forfeiture laws. The key issue with such laws is that the government can come in and seize your assets and you have to prove that they didn't come from your (alleged) participation in illegal enterprise.

The burden of proof is on you and not on the State and it's almost impossible to prove innocence when you're presumed guilty by the law.

Also, in this case they were apparently searching his house after a self-defense shooting. I can't see where they have any legal authority to access his safe and remove his money.

This kind of BS happens all too often as well.
