Quote of The Day

"Imagine how difficult it will be for law enforcement to safeguard the public if semiautomatic guns are allowed"

- D.C. Police Chief Lanier

Yeah, you've been doing a bang up job of protecting D.C. citizens for the last 30+ years. It's not like crime could really get WORSE in the district, yet those in power are still acting like there'll be some doomsday scenario if gun laws are eased.

Of course as Sebastian notes, nearly all of Lanier's concerns are moot, since HR6691 doesn't say anything about allowing carry outside the home in D.C. It's typical fearmongering by petty tyrants who realize they're ever so slightly losing their grip on power. All 6691 does is forces the District to abide by Heller, since they're too damn arrogant to listen to the SCOTUS.

Lanier also makes the incorrect claim that HR6691 would allow citizens to carry loaded semi-auto rifles in the District. She's wrong, it doesn't, but let's assume they were allowed. What would happen? It's perfectly legal in Delaware for me to sling my AR-15 over my shoulder and go for a walk. Despite its legality Delaware hasn't seen a spate of killings as a result of this "loophole," nor have we had problems because we allow OC without a license.

It would be nice if some "journalist" would pin this twit down on why exactly he is so scared of semi-autos.

I hear this all the time from the leftsphere. In Cali, there is more punishment for committing a crime with a semi-auto than a revolver. Like one is eviler or something.

Wow! That's insane man.

Of course it's insane; it's California...

Yup, and don't forget, Barack Obama thinks California should be a model for the nations gun laws.
