And inside of it was one of these....... (click the pic to embiggen)
P229R .40S&W / .357 SIG DAK
What looks like a rough frame just below the slide is actually just a bit of excess slide glide. This thing is almost flawless aesthetically. Hardly looks like a sub $500 used gun.

So I Got This Cool Blue Box.....

You're gonna love it. My buddy has one and it's a complete joy to shoot.
357 Sig is a neat cartridge, too.
Oooo, nice pick up. Just did the papers for the SAS version myself. LOVE that DAK trigger, for some reason.
Nice. So you're a SIG fan. I ended up with a P220 in a swap, but oddly enough it is marked Browning. I'm a victim of the 1911 retrovirus (have my dealer at home looking for a colt WWI repro for me), the 220 is consigned to the rear rack - outer siberia - in my gun cabinet. Fine gun, though.
Nice. My buddy has a few sigs and loves 'em all.
Robb - I'm sure I will.
NJT - so far from dry firing I have a feeling I'm going to LOVE the DAK trigger. Sooooo smooth.
Mark - Yup the very 1st P220's were made by Browning. Is your P220 a 9mm?
Kaveman - I like all my Sigs as well, though the DA triggers could be better on the P6's. This DAK trigger has me spoiled now.
Sorry, no - it is .45. I sold my last 9 (A highpower) to my brother a while back. Simplifies my ammoday purchases...
Ah, just wondering since I know some of the early P220's were chambered in 9mm.
There were some early Browning Double-Actions (Browning marked P220's) in .38 Super, also. I owned a pair od BDA's, one each in 9mm and .45acp, with low 3 digit serial numbers, but that was pre-divorce. Wish I had them still.
My daily carry is a P229 in 357sig. Like a frickin' laaaaser!
Looks nice! :-)
Sweet, and nice buy. Never owned a Sig before, but heard they are damn nice. Give a range report when you can.
Excellent choice. I have the same P229R DAK with .40 and .357 barrels for it. It is my favorite handgun for carry (.357). I liked shooting the gun so much I also got the Bar-sto semi-drop-in barrel in 9mm to save some on practice ammo costs. Works great with 9mm mags which I already had for my P228. The Bar-sto had perfect lock-up out of the box. I also think the 229 DAK trigger is better than that of the 220, 226, or 239.
So did you start reloading yet :)
That's the short trigger on that, I believe. I've got the P229 in .40 S&W with the DA/Sa trigger. It's my favorite carry gun. the Hogue Extreme grips are great on it, too.
Sigdoc - I may buy the barsto 9mm conversion at some point, since I already have a P228 and mags that'll work.
Flashman - Yup, short trigger & Mep night sights. The Hogue Extreme's are the aluminum grips right? Those are nice (I fondled a P229 platinum elite w/ them at the NRA Convention) The problem is they're crazy expensive, and for the price I'd rather just buy CTC grips.
