Anti-gunners like to make the claim that an attacker is likely to disarm you and use your own gun against you. Apparently they're right, but not in the way you might think.

If you don't hesitate, they won't get your gun. It's for protection, learn how to use it and keep it safe.

Not to mention how brazenly stupid a criminal would have to be to move on someone who's got a gun pointed at them.
If you happen to be open carrying I think it's just basic common sense to carry in something with active retention like a Blackhawk Serpa, no matter how remote the chances are that someone will try to disarm you.
