K31 Lovers

Check this out. Man talk about a beautiful rifle and a beautiful country. I'd consider buying a K-31 if 7.5 Swiss weren't so cost prohibitive.

God damn that is a beautiful gun. I firmly believe that no firearm should ever be a "Safe Queen", but I would have to be very, very ginger with that one in particular.

I always liked the straight-pull bolt-action on those things, but I agree that the ammunition is exorbitant. One day... ;)

Wow, that indeed is a pretty gun. Look at the wood!

Also, besides the gun that little town looks awesome, and that lake too.

I'm gonna have to take a trip to Switzerland.

I have one, and although time has marked it's surfaces it's still beautiful. Tam and I took the butt plate off of it one night and there was the little piece of paper with the name and address of the Swiss Soldier who owned it first.

That is a really cool gun, and I like your blog too. Stephen Dent put together a neat site about guns too. Ok, gotta go.

Now that Obama's MechBots are terra-forming the US Economy into a Euro-clone fantasy-camp, when next August rolls-around and the whole country goes on Vacation (and train and bus-drives go on strike), we can go to the Alps and shoot tiny groups across green meadows while larks sing in the treetops. Or to the Sierras, as California becomes more like Switzerland. Hopefully. Where's that kid with the apple on his head? Renaissance Faire!!

I got a K-31 at Big-5 for $89 - a bit more rough (compared to that what isn't?) with a spliced-wood wartime stock. GP-11 isn't *that* expensive, and since it's a bolt gun cases should last a long time just neck-sizing. H4895 works well underneath your choice of .308 Sierra. It is a .308 rifle.

I really wish I'd bought a K31 last year when they were plentiful & cheap. They've doubled in price since then.

Hopefully that's just a product of the mad rush on guns and they'll get more affordable soon.
