Quote of The Day - Trust

"Some people simply do not trust armed, law-abiding citizens, so those citizens must simply walk into the proverbial gas chambers and give up their rights in order to satisfy those who do not trust them. Well, I hate to break it to the would-be totalitarians of our world, but my rights are not predicated on your trust - they exist whether you want them to or not, and I will exercise them, whether you want me to or not. Ain't freedom grand? "

So much of what we see from the anti-rights crowd boils down to this. They live in fear and simply do not trust their fellow citizens with the inherent, inalienable right endowed to them. Their fears of those rights being potentially misused are paramount to the rights themselves, so the power of the State must be used to place as many restrictions as possible on their exercize. This makes sense when you realize that these folks see government not as a necessary evil, but as as the nanny/parent who should tell everyone (but them) what to do.

Thanks for the linkage, mate. The simple fact is, I refuse to allow my life to be ruled by fears, whether it is my own, or someone else's. Unfortunately, the anti-rights advocates had best get used to the word "no", especially given the current political climate.
