I'll send you some No-Doz and a case of Red Bull.
The concepts in the book are amazing, and the way she explains them are amazing, but it's the most boring book I've ever tried to read in my life.
The story sucks and the characters are so 1-dimensional as well as stereotypical it's pathetic, but the concepts she goes over regarding capitalism are spot on.
I actually really liked it, and read it in a week. Your mileage may vary, as they say.
Starting Ayn Rand is easy. As Robb said, it's the finishing that is hard.
It is the most frightening thing I've ever read. Today, it is like a horrifying, insider's real-time newscast of current events.
Stay with it and it will stay with you.
The Fountainhead is good also.
I'm with Robb. Couldn't finish it.
Stay with until you see where she is going. It takes a long to get rolling but I promise you that you will be rewarded. Robb Allen summed it up pretty well, although I was not bored. The ideas she's working with were so mentally stimulating that the flaws in her style were forgotten.
My condolences.
The woman was right, but she could not write worth crap.
