It cost me a damn kidney, but at least now I can say I've got a 1911........and beer.
I left work, picked up my 1911 from Kegs's house where he preceeded to call me a damn hippie because my hair is so long right now. I then went across the street to the liquor store. There's a tobacco shop right there as well. Yes, a FFL dealer, liquor store and tobacco shop all within about a 2 minute walk. No one tell the ATF about the convenience with which I can purchase all of these dangerous vices.....

Well, I dare say that picture shows just how well firearms and alcohol mix... not at all ;).
Congratulations on the purchase! I may not knos much about 1911s, but something tells me you will be happy with this one.
Oooo, shiny! You lucky duck!
They are shooters, have fun
Shiny! Great lookin' pistol; I'd wager that being a Dan Wesson, it's gonna shoot great, too. We can expect a range report soon, yes?
Enjoy!
tweaker
nice looking gun, I am sure it will be lots of fun at the range. Congrats!
Now all they need is to sell bait, and we'd have the quintessential MAN's store. Beer, Bait, Ammo, Guns, Tobacco. Just need a few Molotov Cocktails and I'm sure they'd be jacked up by the BATFE right quick.
Oh, and that's a nice looking .45. Puts my standard Kimber Target II to shame.
FightinBluHen51: Not Molotov cocktails... propane! (The E in BATFE stands for explosives, after all.)
But if you really want something incendiary, try non-dairy creamer.
Good choice!
That is a sharp looking 1911.
Very nice! When do we get the range report??? :-)
Oh WOW!
Now just about anybody buys a 1911, I'll quickly link some Brownell's pages on what I'd install to make it perfect.
For the DW line...nothing is needed.
Wow, you went big, and you went good.
BTW does the DW models have a firing pin block?
Series 70. No firing pin block. I do need to buy an Ed Brown ambi safety and have it fitted since the Heritage isn't setup for lefties.
Sweet!
You'll love the DW. It's the smoothest action of any of my small collection of 1911s. I'm no fan of SS pistols, but the one I have broke me of that.
As far as installing an ambi-safety, I used a stainless Kimber set up on mine. That way I didn't have to replace the grips because of the right side part of the safety.
