Quote of the day - Progressivism

"Historically, those whose ideals proved a threat to progressivism found themselves in mass graves."

-Tasso Rampante - Commenting at Uncle's

That, my friends, is why gun ownership and the carrying of arms is so opposed by "progressives."  One of the key tenets of progressivism throughout history has been to force others to live under their utopian ideals.  Control is essential to the progressive notion of "progress" and thus, the autonomy, self-reliance and freedom of individual gun ownership is the ultimate threat to their stated goals and their ability to gain and retain power.  This is why "progressives" have historically disarmed the people.

It's a hell of a lot harder to force people to do what you want when they retain the ultimate means of saying "NO!," the ability to kill your ass if you fuck with them bad enough.  A "NO!" carries far more emphasis when there's a rifle in hand to back it up.  The British learned this first hand, and even the most intellectually challenged anti-gunners understand it at some level.

H/T to Sean for providing the impetus for this post.  Make sure you go read.

During the Summer of 1974, I got to live behind the Iron Curtain with my relatives in Hungary for a month. No fancy Package Tours, No "Student Exchange", just plain old hanging out with the locals. Having seen the results of Marxism First Hand, this led to me joining my High School Rifle Team that Fall (yes Virginia, at one time Teen Age Boys carried Guns into School and no one called the SWAT Team), and my joining the Navy when I graduated.

Since the opportunity to see/live in a Marxist State has diminished, however, I recommend that everyone download a copy of Marx's "The Communist Manifesto", and pay attention to his "10 Point Plan". Taking into account the Technological advances since the 1830's, just look at what his Agenda was, and ask yourself how much of it has been Implemented by the so-called "Progressives". Then buy some more Ammo, and get some practice in.

Thanks for the link. They say that the greatest achievement the Devil ever had was convincing us he didn't exist. I'm not so sure that it was the Devil who did that. I think it was Progressives.

It's damned difficult to tell a man what to do, when he's holding a rifle.
