Not just NO, but HELL NO

Police doing walking patrols in SWAT gear with AR-15's around their necks to "take back the streets?"  Oh hell no.  The militarization of the cops is already bad enough in this country.  And frankly, if I can't walk down the street OC'ing my AR-15 without it being a huge issue then the cops sure as hell shouldn't be able to do it.

"[Police are] going to be in SWAT gear and have AR-15s around their neck," Stovall said. "If you're out walking, we're going to stop you, ask why you're out walking, check for your ID......They may not be doing anything but walking their dog," "But they're going to have to prove it."

And, he says, "We're going to do it to everybody"  Oh sure, because stating that you're going to do it to everybody makes the outright violation of civil liberties A-OK....

There's so much wrong with this jackasses words I could've quoted the whole damn article.  He thinks the fact that stats says there's high crime equates to having "probable cause" for a stop.  He thinks "people are scared" gives him all the PC he needs to randomly stop someone.  It sounds to me like Police Chief Stovall needs to get his ass sued.

The thing that really scares me isn't that LEO's and politicians think up this stuff and think it's acceptable behavior.  What really scares me is that if you floated these ideas right now a worrisomely high percentage would happily support such violations of civil liberties (as they do with the TSA, gun control etc.) because hey, it's good to "feel safe."

H/T to Hube for alerting me to this.

Another step, another push to get people used to blind obedience to the government.

First we were told "if you drive a car, it is a privilege and you have to show id"; even if you did nothing wrong.

Then came 'sobriety check points' and then 'border security' 100 miles away from the border.

And on and on.

Sorry, patrol all you want. I'll complain to the city council about the waste of money and resources (how much are those "patrol rifles" around their necks?????"

But I will not provide identification upon request. In Texas all I have to do (if I'm not carrying concealed) is provide my name.

Let me get this straight. A Town of 26,000 in North Arkansas that about 2 miles Square has such a High Crime Rate that they are setting up their own Gestapo?

Uh, would somebody call Andy and tell him Barney needs his Bullet taken away?

The day where we will need weapons to defend from the police state draws one step nearer...

Solid Post.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
