Rule # 1
I've been putting in some overtime at work this week, which means less time for blogging.

Quote of the Day
-MikeB.
As a 23 year old gun owner I feel quite comfortable telling MikeB he's full of shit. I have family members who I 100% do not trust to be responsible with a firearm and that has nothing to do with age. Also, those who make that claim about young gun owners could replace the word "gun" with just about anything. Maybe we just don't have the common sense & sense of responsibility to exercize free speech or vote either. I know they hate the term, but these folks really are bigots.

Words Have Meanings
I'm not going to quote the dictionary definition of "Brandish," because I see that Breda beat me to it. Even assuming you were ignorant of the definition, common-sense should tell you that Open Carry is not brandishing. Let me clear things up for the "journalists" and folks I've seen using the "brandish" term on liberal sites, since they seem to be having trouble.
I know it's been reported by a myriad of news agencies that those who are open carrying are doing so legally. That much is obvious. It should also be obvious that "brandishing" is a criminal offense in many states. In Delaware for example, there is no specific brandishing law, however we have both menacing and terroristic threatening statutes under which you could be convicted if you flashed your gun or otherwise indicated you were carrying for the purpose of threatening or intimidating another person.
My simple question for those throwing the term "brandishing" around is this. How can an activity be both lawful and Constitutionally protected yet simultaneously a criminal offense? It defies all logic. If open carry is a lawful activity, then absent some further aggravating behavior on the part of the carrier the offense of "brandishing" (or its equivalent) cannot occur. Whether or not some hoplophobe feels threatened or intimidated by a lawful act is irrelevant.
I suppose expecting the media and anti-gun bloggers to employ logic is asking a bit too much. We certainly shouldn't expect either to look up a word in the dictionary. That might require a minute or two of research, which would take away precious time for writing / broadcasting propaganda pieces.
It's things like this that make me so glad we have the internet to counteract the message pushed by traditional media.

Two is One?
I have no plans to buy one, but if you're in the market pick one up now. They won't last long at that price.

Zombiepocalypse
I'm ready, I've got Silvertips!
Yes, I know they're not the ideal .45 carry load, but they'll do until I can get my hands on Federal HST's.

Changing the Future
I second what he says, as I've been a regular reader of The Smallest Minority since 2003, when I was a fledgling college student just beginning to form my own political identity.
On a related note, I think some people are perhaps predisposed towards or against particular political ideologies. I've always been a literal, rational & logical thinker who rarely if ever took things at face value. Some people are just wired differently. They almost seem drawn to emotional arguments and are intrinsically empathetic to such positions. Obviously no one thinks rationally all the time (which is one of my core issues with Rand's Objectivism) but I do think there's a predisposition towards one method or the other.
Perhaps that's why I was never swayed by Contemporary Liberalism. It is far too grounded in what ought to be rather than what is. Then of course the same principles pushed me away from Conservatism, which is fraught with many of it's own bigoted moral viewpoints and authoritarianism.
As an example of liberal thought, I give you a gem by Kevin's whipping boy Markadelphia.
"Belief is more important than reality"
That my friends is Contemporary Liberalism in a nutshell. Markadelphia's been demonstrating it for years.

Excellent Source for Mags & Parts Kits
I now have spare parts for all my Sigs as well as a reasonable (or at least minimum) number of mags for each gun. Then again, can you ever really have too many magazines?
Of course I only have one mag for the Bersa, which is completely unacceptable. As Tam would say, one is none and two is one.
Obama on Political Discourse
"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors..... I want you to argue with them and get in their face....You are my ambassadors. You guys are the ones who can make the case."
And yet the Liberals in Congress are calling protesters "Unamerican" and "Evilmongers" and acting like this is some kind of evil conspiracy orchestrated by the GOP. It's unbelievable.
Aren't people just doing what Dear Leader told them to do 11 months ago?

Eric Thompson a Villian?
Now we see the anti-gunners and the media (but I repeat myself) attempting to vilify Thompson despite the fact that he's done nothing wrong.
Is the owner of a cutlery store responsible if someone buys a knife set from them and later uses it to stab his wife?
Is a car dealer responsible for cases of vehicular homicide or DUI because they legally sold a product to the person whose actions precipitated those events?

A New Shooter Report
I have some friends dropping in from Florida next week who want to go shooting. I'm hoping to get them to the range but we'll see. They didn't leave me enough notice to be able to get off of work, but I'm going to try and set something up over the weekend.
Political Dissent
"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."
If the Bush Administration had said something like this what do you think the media reaction would have been? Something along the lines of "OMG, the Evil Bush/Cheney are trying to stifle free speech and political dissent!! Those Facists!" Furthermore, you can bet folks like Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and the rest of the liberal media would run with it ad nauseum offering their speculative opinions about what the Bush Administration was planning to do with the information sent to the White House e-mail.
Now for the record, I don't think this is some kind of insidious ploy by the Obama Administration or some way for them to create a list of those who they don't want speaking out. Obama is simply trying to counter dissent and he's pissed that he failed to ram healthcare down our throats prior to the August recess.
It would appear that "Dissent is Patriotic" only applies when a Republican is in the White House. Of course that line is a subject for a lengthy post of its own.
