Quote of the Day

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

-Thomas Jefferson

Awesome quote, Mike.

So true. I am still hoping that America will wake up and remember its roots.

It will be an uproar if they do (Americans are just a bunch of racists) and it will be the death of the American Dream if they don't.

But in a free society people have the choice. That's at least for right now. I'm not so sure if that will be still there in the future of this country.

I hope you are right TAP, but it's not looking good. I just wish we could have put someone better than McCain up against a man who's basically a socialist.

(Yes, I know he's not socialist to many Europeans, but within our system of government I think it's fair to label him as such. I see Socialism as the antithesis of the values under which the Founding Fathers started this nation)

Oh, and damnit I keep forgetting to add you to the blogroll. You're added now.

He might not be a socialist for many in Europe, but he would perfectly fit into the image of a generic European politician.

To me government intervention in the free market is always socialism - I think things like the fairness doctrine even worse.

If he really likes European politics so much, why is he not going over there and play with the team. He would not have a chance there - Europe is not as open minded as many people think.

America has always been different, but maybe Americans are loosing faith in their own ability and in their own heritage.

For an immigrant who has come to embrace the American Dream (in all its shapes and forms) this is a very sad moment.
