I love their stuff!
There are some good places in Maine (Shipyard Brewery, and Gritty McDuffs, Sebago Brewery, are my faves) but Dogfish Head beats them up badly!
Midas Touch is a bit.....different. Actually very different. It's a good occasional beer for someone who likes darker, malty beers.
I actually don't like all that many of their beers since I'm not a big hops guy. The handful that I do like are really damn good.
Some folks (*cough* Breda *cough*) might tell you it's blasphemy to like beer and not be a hophead.
Iron Hill Brewery around here makes has some awesome stuff too. Too bad you can't buy it by the bottle.
oh man - Midas Touch. You're right - it is very different, in a very good way. & The reason it's so sweet is because they need to add more sugar to up the alcohol content.

Nah, being a hophead HELPS, but there are so many beer with little-to-no hop-flavor, that obviously its not a requirement for the beverage.
You do need to like the taste of Juniper to like gin, tho!
Weer'd - That's probably why I hate gin. Or it could just be some bad experiences in college.
Come to think of it, I haven't had a single "Ice" beer since college either.
Breda - This post is making me thirsty now. I may need to pick up some DFH on the way home. Guinness & Newcastle are staples around here, but every now and then I need to pick up some DFH.
