Castle Doctrine in Ohio!

Castle Doctrine bill passes in Ohio

I'm always glad to see these bills pass. People shouldn't have to worry about legal ramifications and convoluted self-defense laws when someone has broken into their home. This is a good day for Ohioans, and this is one of the few laws I'd really like to see passed here in Delaware. When someones home is forcefully invaded the law should be on the side of the homeowner. Castle doctrine ensures that it is, and sends a clear message to criminals.

Also, the prevention of civil lawsuits is a huge proponent of these bills. Here in Delaware even if you use lethal force to defend yourself you can be sued in civil court by the criminals family (or the criminal if he survived) I can't think of a single good reason why criminals should be able to use the court system to extort money from those they've victimized. Even if the case is thrown out, simply being involved in civil litigation can have life-changing ramifications for those who are sued.
