“The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.” Heller v. D.C. - June 26, 2008

I've heard many good things about Sigs. I would have had a P220 long ago if I had not gotten bitten by the 1911 bug.
I have never shot a 1911......
I bought my first in February '06 and have five of them now.
never shot a 220- played with a 226 DAK or whatever they call it. Honestly wasn't blown away for the price.
Got a springfield armory 1911 that I enjoy. I went with the mil-spec.
Never liked those mosquitos that sig puts out either. Never saw one run well. (i've only seen two) I'm sure they are good guns, I just haven't been impressed.
Mike - The Mosquito is universally regarded as a total piece of crap. I've never shot a P226 or P220, so no opinion there. I do think Sigs are damn expensive, but that's why I look for good deals and buy used. The most expensive one I've bought was $500 shipped.
I really should try a 1911 one of these days, though I'm not a fan of safeties. A STI Trojan in 9mm would be cool. (but I'm not rich) I suppose If I liked it I could buy it and just not carry it.
I'll let you guys know what I think of the DAK trigger in a few weeks. I have a feeling I'll like it.
Texas DPS uses the P226 in .357 Sig. I dry fired one and liked the trigger for a DAO. I have also noticed several PD's going switching from Glock to Sig.
It's always nice to find a good gunny site.

I went with the parkerized GI for my first one, which from what I understand is more or less the same gun. Even the trigger on those is pretty good, but the more you spend the better they get. Lol...
pistolero-
yea they are pretty close- sights are 3 dot instead of the traditional GI style cut, ejection port is flared and lowered a little so supposedly they are more gentle on brass- but I've never shot any other port so I can't comment on how true it actually is.
the only thing I did to mine was disable the ILS.
Mike-
yea the safety thing is a little redundant in my opinion as well. with a grip safety like the 1911 has, I just don't understand the need for the second one.
