Quote of the Day - "Fuck the Troops" Edition

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan. He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."

-Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion

You mean a liberal is adhering blindly to his ideology and absolutely refusing to hear facts or dissenting opinions? Inconceivable!

RTWT! - If you didn't consider President Obama a contemptible asshole before you will now.

Looks like Zero dumped the idea.

So disaster avoided. Still a larger risk is that the people cannot forget that we have a president who thought this would be a good idea!

I think this is one of those situations where the saying

"It's the thought that counts" is perfectly applicable.

Obama is a fucking asshole for this. Short of physically assaulting a serviceman this is about the closest thing to an actual slap in the face that I can think of.

Just imagine if Bush had proposed such an idea.

No, Bush didn't propose anything like this. He just started a bogus war that's killed about 50 times the number of people who died on 9/11. And then he let the wounded troops rot in the shamefully bad Walter Reed (and similar facilities). Don't get me wrong, Obama proposing this is shitty. But Obama on his worst day is ten times better than either Bush on their best day.

Oh, and actually, yes - fuck the troops. Anyone dumb enough to sign up for that clusterfuck shouldn't be surprised when their life turns to shit. They're not protecting anyone's freedom by blowing up Iraqi children. In point of fact they're making Americans less safe by making enemies out of every family that loses someone during this conflict. The US hasn't been engaged in a moral war since WWII, which is also the last time anyone in my family was in the military. Since then we've all been wise to the bullshit coming out of Washington from both parties. It's a shame not everyone has done the same.
