I'm thankful to be living in the greatest country on earth.
I'm thankful to have a job in this down economy.
I'm thankful to be able to stuff myself so full of food that I can hardly move.
I'm thankful to be surrounded by great friends and family and 4 hyper nephews.
I hope all my readers, commenters and fellow bloggers had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

This is Made of Win!
Hope is fading fast!.....
Of course you could get shot wearing something like that around here. There's a reason I don't have anything anti-Obama on my car. Hell, shop owners have glowing portraits of Obama in their windows. I guess it's a racial pride issue or something.

Self-Defense - Way Too Close for Comfort
Here's a case from my neck of the woods, thanks to Zendo Deb.
"Two gunmen came into Favor's Liquor Store on S. Walnut Street around 9:30 p.m. and ordered the clerk to give them the money in the register.
When the gunmen came around the counter to try to get the money themselves, the clerk opened fire, hitting one of the masked men."
Congratulations to the store clerk. He successfully defended himself and made the streets I have to walk everyday just a little bit safer.
When I say he made my walk a little bit safer I mean that with deadly seriousness. I walk past Favor's Liquor Store everyday on the way to and from work. I doubt if my parking spot is more than 50 yards from the store.
One dead goblin, another hopefully caught soon.

Surreal
Obama lobbied long and hard convincing us we needed Congress to pass a "stimulus" spending 1.6 TRILLION dollars in order to help the U.S. economy. Not only has the stimulus done nothing to improve the U.S. economy, but now you're claiming that the very same deficit spending you touted as the solution could now end up being the problem.
You mean you can't spend your way out of a financial pinch? Inconceivable! It's not like any idiot with two brain cells to rub together couldn't have figured that out. Perhaps I'm being insulting to your average idiot, since Obama and the Democratic leadership in Congress don't have two brain cell between them. Hell, when I'm deep in debt the first thing I try and do is borrow as much money as possible and spend my way out of it.
Bruce had this to say about Obama,
I'll go a step further and say President Obama has exceeded each and every one of my expectations. Well except for gun control, and that's only because the Dems in Congress are treating it like political gonorrhea.
Oh Noes!
I've been with The Firm for nearly two and a half years now and this is the 1st time anyone has ever noticed that I carry a pocket knife. It was our personal trainer who apparently carries a Gerber Paraframe and wanted to know what I had.
A far different reaction than what I occasionally saw at the University of Delaware which was "Oh noes, he's carrying a knife!" God forbid someone actually saw me using it to cut something.
It's possible that carrying one is against company policy (I doubt it, but I don't have our policies here to look at) but this is a decidedly hippie-free environment so it'd probably never be an issue. At UD I actually had one woman who was visually disturbed when my Benchmade Mini Pika came off of my pocket during physical therapy. Yes, our universities are turning out people who have a negative reaction to a 2.9 inch knife in the closed position. Is it any wonder we're becoming more and more like the UK everyday?

Not Again
President Obama bows to another foreign leader. Jesus, and I was embarrassed to have Bush represent us overseas. I never thought I'd say it, but if we can't have Reagan could we at least have Bill Clinton back? Obama is a complete joke when it comes to foreign policy, not to mention the mess he and the Dems are making of things here at home.

My grandfather is in Chile for the winter (lucky him) but if he were here I'd love to hear his thoughts on this. He's a WWII vet and still not a big fan of Japan.

Quote of The Day - What She Said!
"I don't give a flying fuck what you think of me or my ideas and I most certainly won't accept addled "correction" from amateur fascists or hobby socialists. I'm not going to provide a forum for junior Mussolinis or junior Stalins. Either you support the Bill of Rights or you are opposed to the fundamental ideas of this country; there is no kinda-sorta to it, no footnotes or wink-wink secret codicils.
If you're not okay with the Bill of Rights, I am not your friend. I'm not your enemy, I'll save my enmity for murderous scum, but if you're not good with every word of all ten amendments, we're not on the same team, no matter how much you wish we were."

Damn straight!
Update
Roberta asks a great question of the "Muslims have terrorist cooties" crowd.
Are you any deader if the guy shouts "Allahu Akbar" before he shoots you instead of "I Hate Mondays?" Are you any more terrorized?
Look, there are plenty of people who are willing to kill others for a whole host of different reasons. Some are psychopaths, some are criminals for whom the juice is worth the squeeze, some are pissed at the world, and some are doing it in the name of religion. In the end does it really matter why? People have been killing in the name of religion since the dawn of civilization, but that doesn't justify us blaming one religion for the actions and beliefs of extremist outliers.

Sweet
You know what's cool? Getting half a case of Federal XM193 on Gunbroker for less than what Ammoman wants for a half case of Wolf.
It'd be nice if I could find .45ACP for a decent price anywhere.

ObamaCare - We're Screwed
So Obamacare passed the House by a narrow margin on Saturday, with ONE Republican voting for it. So much for transparency, public debate prior to voting on legislation, and bipartisanship.
On Friday I got notice that health insurance premiums at The Firm were increasing, which means the 10% I currently kick in also goes up. Coincidence? I think not.
Those are my thoughts in leiu of a more substantive post which will surely piss me off as I write it.
In other news, a coworker just walked in the office to ask my opinion on the FNP-9. I've never shot one, but as far as I know they're good, reliable guns at a competitive price.
