Quote of The Day - We Never Learn

"I think they've made the biggest financial mess that any government's ever made in this country for a very long time, and Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people's money. It's quite a characteristic of them. They then start to nationalise everything, and people just do not like more and more nationalisation, and they're now trying to control everything by other means. They're progressively reducing the choice available to ordinary people."

Margaret Thatcher - 1976

Nationalization? check.
Increasing government control over everyday life? check
Progressively reducing individual choice? Check.
Running out of other people's money? Check

Oh, and the government is going to cut costs and increase efficiency? Spending trillions in order to save money? Yeah, sure, pull my other leg.

Remember folks, the government said in the 60's that Medicare would cost an estimated $12 billion by 1990. The reality? By 1990 medicare would cost $107 billion, or nearly 9 times the original estimate.

All we have to do is look at history. Anyone who tells you this is going to end up saving America money is woefully ignorant of history.

Also, go read Bonnie's health care post. Cutting out the bureacratic middlemen equates to lower prices. Imagine that. Oh, and liberals being absolute assholes? Color me shocked!
