Don't want to bust your bubble but I hate the 3rd time meme -- in this case.
Each person only used those firearms once -- 1 time.
People have asked how often does a firearm have to save a life before we lift the restrictions -- this answers it.
None at the present, 1 time in the future.
If these people hadn't broken the law, they might have been the victims of robbery or murder.
The fact that it has happened 3 times disproves the all guns are bad -- it is definitely the owner/user that makes the difference.

Yup, it goes back to the fundamental difference. Predatory vs. Protective violence.
No tyrant with armed guards has the authority to force me to be defenseless in my own home, regardless of what the law says.
