Zombies! Oh Noes!

The Zombie Bite Calculator

Quote of the Day

"That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that History has to teach.”

-Aldous Huxley

Unfortunately those men in positions of power seem to be the ones most guilty of failing to learn from history.

P220 Slim Grips

Dirtcrashr had some issues with a set of slim grips he bought for his Sig P220. I recently bought a set for my P220ST myself and they would not fit. It looks like they may be rubbing on the trigger bar spring and the issue becomes obviously apparent when you dryfire the gun. They also will not sit completely flush at the rear. I never even bothered inserting the magazine but it's entirely possible that would have presented a problem as well.

It's a shame because I LOVED the feel of the grips. They're slightly thinner and have far better checkering than the original Sig grips.

Had I bothered to check before ordering I would have seen this disclaimer

"These grips will not fit properly if you have the old style metal mainspring seat. Will fit P220's with the new style black plastic mainspring seat. "

If you want slim grips your only option is to go aftermarket or change out the mainspring housing for the newer plastic ones that Sig now uses. Hogue makes a nice set of slim grips for the P220, but they're $130 and I am not sure if they will fit P220's with either mainspring seat.

This Warms My Heart

In AZ, Intruder dies after homeowner fights back.

"The homeowner told police the intruder demanded the keys to his car but instead of handing them over the homeowner opened fire."

But hey, the homeowner should have just handed over the keys. It's only property after all, right?

Getting shot is an occupational hazard when trying to rob people. This guy found that out the hard way and his recidivism rate is now 0%. If you don't want to be shot then don't break into homes and try to rob people. Simple concept eh?

H/T to Dustin

In other news, there have been several robberies of late around my office. About an hour ago I got an e-mail about an attempted robbery that happened across the street from us this morning Last week two women were assaulted in front of our office building. More proof that violent crime happens in the "good areas."

Good Lord I need a Drink!

I'm listening to the State of the Union Address. Does anyone believe the BS Obama spews anymore?

Great, right now he's complaining about Federal spending and the deficit, saying the Feds should "tighten their belts" Yeah, does anyone think Obama and his group of liberals are going to cut back the way families are doing during this recession?

The very idea of Obama & the Dems being "fiscally responsible" is ludicrous.

Newsflash Obama, out of control government spending does not equal "investment"

Breda channels my thoughts perfectly. Obama is not just epic fail, he's epic fail of Carteresque proportions. I mean seriously, his speech was so bad he was getting laughed at!

Crazy is as Crazy Does

It takes a special kind of crazy to make Chris Matthews appear sane and logical. Lucky for Mr. "Tingle up my leg," Howard Dean fits the bill perfectly. It would appear that Scott Brown's win has sent the Marxists off the deep end.

The following made me laugh out loud, from the comments on the video at Newsbusters.

"When I read "Matthews, Dean call each other crazy", did I think of Triumph The Insult Comedy Dog? He would say "That's like poop telling vomit it stinks".

Perhaps I should start watching Matthews purely for entertainment value.

Those Who Lack Respect for the 2nd Amendment....

Tend to hold other portions of the Bill of Rights in contempt as well. Notice which Justices came out against free speech rights? It was those "tolerant" "progressive" Liberals.

A victory for the 1st Amendment, and yet the Liberals on the Court come down on the anti-rights side. I'm happy to see the Court strike down part of McCain-Feingold as well.

Remember folks, when Liberals claim to be supporters of "Free Speech" what they really mean is that they support only the "free speech" that they personally approve of. Silly me, I've always been of the opinion that speech most in need of protection is that which others find contentious, disagreeable, or even morally repugnant.

Stevens says corporations are not actually members of our society. Wow, he's off his rocker again!

At least Justice Kennedy was a voice of reason saying,

"There is no basis for the proposition that, in the political speech context, the government may impose restrictions on certain disfavored speakers.... The government may regulate corporate speech through disclaimer and disclosure requirements, but it may not suppress that speech altogether."

Shot Show Wrap-Up

Todd G. of Pistol-Training.com has an excellent shot show post up.

He talks about Sig Sauer's new E2 pistols and manages to alleviate pretty much all of my initial concerns regarding the new Sigs.

Tell Me Something New....

Chris "tingle up my leg" Matthews admits on air that he's a Marxist.

In other news, water is wet! If he'd told us he liked to sodomize midgets that would have been shocking. This, not so much.

GO SCOTT GO!

That is all folks! Looks Like the Dems are going down in Mass.

I'm sure Obama is pissed right now. That makes me happy as can be!

The word on the street is that the Dems might try to push healthcare through anyway. That would be monumentally stupid, but Obama and the Democrats in Congress have shown outright contempt for what the people want.

Quote of the Day - MLK

"I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - April 16, 1963 - Letter from Birmingham Jail

I think that's an important point to remember given what we're sure to see as we get closer to the SCOTUS hearing McDonald. The anti-gun / anti-rights crowd and the MSM (but I repeat myself) are going to start whining about "states rights" to violate the Constitution.

Taking such a stance is just as repugnant as claiming that states have the "right" to re-institute slavery or return to the days of Plessy.

The notion that it is OK for local governments to violate the rights of people in certain areas of the country simply because a majority of the people in those localities support said violations disgusts me to no end. I suspect Dr. King wouldn't stand for it either.

The System Worked - UK Edition

"The system worked" in the case of a businessman who the authorities said wrote a line in an e-mail which some bureacrat deemed potentially "offensive."

"The email, concerning a planning appeal by a gipsy, included the phrase:
‘It’s the ‘do as you likey’ attitude that I am against.’

Council staff believed the email was offensive because ‘likey’ rhymes
with the derogatory term ‘pikey’."

Good god, it's almost unbelieveable that England was once the greatest nation on Earth. Remember, according to many Europeans (and many Liberals here) we Americans are the uncivilized, barbaric ones, and in Europe people have more freedoms and more rights. Yeah, if you believe that I've got a perfectly good bridge to sell you in London.

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

Quote Of The Day

"a CCW is an infringement on a preexisting right. You would be raising holy hell if you required a permit to speak up against your government. "Sorry, you don't have a STL (speedy trial license) so you'll have to wait 90 days before a judge can listen to your case". "We're sorry Mr. Smith, without a Self Incrimination Permit, you have no 5th amendment protections"

- Robb Allen

With all the talk of training over at SFL's blog (which has now, sadly but predictably, gone *poof*) I thought this would be an appropriate QOTD, even though Robb penned it roughly 7 months ago.

The sad thing about the "discussion" (I have a hard time calling it discussion given SFL & Rob's behavior) is that none of us pro-gun folks actually disagree that training is a good idea, or that carrying a non-drop safe gun sans holster is a bad idea. The disagreement comes when some condescending blowhard trots out every anti-gun talking point in the book and claims that her fellow Americans should not exercise their rights without meeting her nearly unattainable, pie-in-the-sky standard of "adequate training."

Robb is correct. SFL and other anti-gunners would have a fit if every few years they had to provide justification, pay a fee, pass a qualification, pay for and attend a "training class," and then wait months in order to write a blog post, petition their local government, or assert their right to legal counsel. If they were unable to freely, legally exercise those rights without 1st obtaining permits they would scream bloody murder, particularly if they happened to be in a state where everyone is summarily denied permits. (see MD)

I wonder if SFL also thinks that one should have "combat experience" in the courtroom (an impossible standard for a non-trial lawyer) and extensive legal training in order to assert their right to a speedy trial, take the stand in their own defense, or invoke their their right against self-incrimination.

Anti-gunners are almost exclusively unwilling to apply the same standards they wish to inflict upon us and our 2nd Amendment rights to those rights they actually approve of.

Take Notice Obama

Obama's good buddy Chavez is finding out that making up your own monetary policy by declaring your currency to be worth "X" amount doesn't negate the laws of supply & demand.

Venezuela doesn't seem to be the Socialist paradise envisioned as an attainable goal for America by our starry-eyed leftists.

Every action by the government has a corresponding reaction in the free market. Obama would do well to consider that spending & printing currency like it's monopoly money is likely to make it as worthless as monopoly money. Perhaps he and Congress find such action "stimulating?"

But hey, maybe we can keep on spending like this and won't devalue our currency. President Hope & Change can just wave his magic wand and suspend the laws of basic economics.

I'll be late to this party

I have strong opinions about the recent kertuffle over at the blog of Southern Female Lawyer and that of her bullying, violent husband Rob Russell, but recent events have put me in a decidedly anti-blogging mood, especially when we're talking about two adults acting like petulant children. In the grand scheme of things crap like that is so trivial it's hardly worth the effort to respond to. OT - I have a gun on my hip as I type this, I wonder if these folks think I'm paranoid and irresponsible because of it?

In addition to having a sick dog to take care of (he had his balls chopped off, poor pup) A family friend (who is pregnant) was involved in a serious car accident over the weekend. She rolled her SUV several times. After seeing pictures of the car it's nothing short of a miracle that she walked away with no major injuries. As far as I know the baby is ok as well.

While I'm not religious, I can't help but think that someone, somewhere was looking out for her. It really makes you stop and think about just how fragile and fleeting life can be.

I've got another holster review in the works and half-written, but I'm in no mood to finish it right now.

Update - Bad things come in threes. My Omi is in the hospital with pancreatitis.

Jumping Ship

When you've lost CNN and even Jack Cafferty calls you a liar it's clearly a sign that the "Hope & Change" blinders are finally coming off. When the far left, the folks who swooned over Obama and helped carry him to the White House are waking up and finally saying "we've been lied to," you know that the Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats have been a failure of monumental proportions.

If Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann start openly questioning and criticizing President Obama then we know that Hell has officially frozen over.

It would appear that even a Liberal like Cafferty understands that "closed-door healthcare negotiations" does not equal "openness and transparency."

Damnit Al !

I wake up this morning after a really crappy 4 hours of sleep and what do I see? Oh not much, just more "global warming" all over the ground.

Hey Al Gore, you suck and we hate you.

Oh, and an FYI. Toyo Proxes 4's are what I'd call "barely passable" in the white stuff. In the dry and wet they're some of the best All-Season tires I've ever had, but in snow they might even be worse than the craptastic OEM Michelin's.

I've now purchased www.anothergunblog.com. It's all mine! (evil laugh...) Now for something more serious I have a question for all of you.

Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

I think so, Brain, but how are we going to make pencils that taste like bacon? Or maybe we should make bacon that tastes like pencils. Narf.

Wait, did someone say Bacon?

Rid of Ritter!

I'm extremely happy to hear that Governor Ritter of Colorado will not be seeking reelection. Let's hope this is a trend among Democratic governors.

If you're wondering why this is good news read here. I dislike him for his support of SB34 in particular, since I have family in Colorado and it made my Utah permit useless.

Quote of The Day

"The defence of one’s self, justly called the primary law of nature, is not, nor can it be abrogated by any regulation of municipal law. This principle of defence is not confined merely to the person; it extends to the liberty and the property of a man: it is not confined merely to his own person; it extends to the persons of all those, to whom he bears a peculiar relation -- of his wife, of his parent, of his child, of his master, of his servant: nay, it extends to the person of every one, who is in danger; perhaps, to the liberty of every one, whose liberty is unjustly and forcibly attacked. It becomes humanity as well as justice."

Quote of The Day - Holsters Edition

"The difference in holsters is something everyone reads about but, in my opinion, simply must experience..... Until a person actually totes a firearm around in a cheap holster then tries a quality holster that person won’t fully get it. I didn’t."

-Bob S.

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement. I went from carrying IWB in a Sleeping Dog holster from JBP to using kydex / leather holsters from Comp-Tac. The difference is night and day. Universal holsters that are not specific to your particular firearm are inexpensive, but a holster just isn't something you skimp on. Choosing a carry rig is as personal a decision as choosing a pistol, so what works for me might be something you couldn't stand to have on for even a few minutes.

Now, the cheaper holsters do have their uses and can work just fine for smaller guns. Breda carries her Bersa .380 in a JBP universal IWB holster and when I carry my .22 Firestorm I'm essentially doing the same thing she is. Still, I prefer gun specific holsters and would probably get something nicer if not for the fact that I rarely carry the .22.

That reminds me that I need to do another holster review. I bought a Comp-Tac Spartan and have been using it to tote around the Hunk-O-Steel seen here.
