You know what's great about being an uncle? Your nephews are excited every time they get to see you and they think you're the coolest person ever.*
Hell, the other day at Mcdonald's they were convinced I was strong enough to literally pick up the table despite it being bolted to the wall and floor. They fight over who gets to hold my hand when we cross the street, who gets to sit next to me in the car etc. etc. It's really quite amusing. The best part of being an uncle? If they get on your nerves you can just hand them off to Mom or Dad.
*I wonder how much longer I'll be able to fool them into believing that.

I don't have or want kids, but I'm looking forward to someday being an aunt...particularly for the last bit you mentioned.
And because aunts and uncles always give the coolest gifts. :)

I dread the day my niece learns I'm not half as awesome as she thinks I am. Until that day, though, Uncle Loki is a pretty good gig.
