On this day in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was approved by Congress.
Despite the risk of great personal loss, fifty six men signed the Declaration, affirming our freedom from England.
Celebrate today. Have fun, be safe, and remember what today is all about. Remember the sacrifices our founders made, and for the love of god call it "Independence Day" please!
Many of these affluent men would later lose their homes, families, and their personal wealth. All of them were actively hunted down by the British, some paying with their lives, others narrowly escaping.
They knew the enormous risk they were taking, yet each man had the courage to stand on principle in support of individual liberty and a free nation. May we never forget what they sacrificed for future generations. May we never squander our freedoms in the face of tyranny.
