Socialized medicine = slavery

"The strikers tried an ultimatum; they even threatened to stop emergency hospital service. That was it. The government angrily announced that it would start drafting physicians. Once in uniform, the doctors would work when and where they were told to."

- TIME Magazine article Belgium:  Physician, See Thyself- April 17, 1964

The doctors were protesting socialized medicine and the response of the government was to force them to practice. why did the government draft physicians into the military?  To stop the strike and to keep them practicing medicine in Belgium, as they were fleeing the country in droves.

If the government guarantees "free" healthcare as a "right" to be provided by the government then the providers become slaves. A free healthcare utopia where doctors get drafted into the military to enslave them in the practice of medicine.  Sounds like freedom to me.  Give the government power over you and they will use it to deny choice and quash individual liberties.  Tell me again why anyone would want to give them more control over our healthcare, given that history is ripe with examples of the peril of doing just that?

That's just the doctor I want doing an operation on me. The doctor who never wanted to do that job in the first place.

I can think of some of the chores I was forced into as a kid from my folks. Shoveling snow, weeding flower beds, mowing the law.

If I didn't want to be out there, I'd always do a half-assed job!

Whatever was JUST good enough to not be yelled at.
