For you .45ACP fans...

I have a quick question.  How many of you use 185 grain .45ACP for either range or defensive use?  Surely I'm not the only one turning his back on JMB.

You're not, but it doesn't make you any less of a godless heathen.

230 Grain, or get back in the kitchen and make me some supper, bitch! ; ]

I use whatever is in the cheap ammo at Walmart.

I shoot bullseye, so I shoot 185-grain SWC all the time in my .45. (I load all of it myself.)

The cheap stuff at WalMart is *ALWAYS* 230 grain...

I played with the lighter grain stuff for SD but wasn't overly impressed. I went back to 230 pretty quick and did 100 Hail JMBs as penance.

The cheap stuff is all 230 grain so that's mostly what I shoot. I like the idea of 185 grain JHPs, but I just can't find them anymore. Maybe it's because they're the solution to the hollowpoint expansion problem for the last generation of JHPs.

I use 230 grain JHP for SD and FMJ for practice. I am hoping for 280 grain coming soon so I can use really slow really heavy caliber .45. ;-)

Mike just likes the breeze that blows up his skirt from the extra FPS from the lighter boolits...

I prefer to stay as close as possible to the middle of the design envelope when choosing bullet weights for semiautos. My 1911 is set up for 230gr, I practice with 230gr, I'll keep using 230gr.

With 9x19mm, 115 or 124 grains -- I prefer 124.

I realize with modern gun manufacturing, as long as you don;t get way far out of the envelope, the pontential reliability difference is minimal at best. . . but it provides me cheap peace of mind which is worth it all by itself.

I too carry 185 grain Critical Defense Ammo everyday. Lighter round, better ballistics, and from a legal standpoint even my ammo says it is defensive. If it helps I did try to convince my wife to move to Utah and by JMB's mansion, it didn't work.
