Yes or no?

To refinish or not to refinish?

This gun.

No.

Why would you?

Unless it's lime green with purple racing stripes, of course.

I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, the wear marks give it character. On the other, there is one in the safe that I bought for me, but the SO has since laid claim to. She's not into pink, but judging from her reaction to colored guns at NRA conv, a blood red with black highlights I think she would like.

No, it is just starting to look good.

No. It's got class.

But I'm prejudices. I get tingles up my leg over well-worn SIGS.

I would not waste the money to get that gun refinished if only because to me it looks to have at least 80% of he original finish (then again I am looking at it on a PC where pics can vary from one PC screen to the next, and those pics are not the greatest, less than desirable lighting in the first on which to base such a decision). If my estimation of remaining finish is correct, why would you even consider refinishing a pistol in that good a condition? Of course, if it has one of those thick coated finishes that actually effects operation of the pistol as it chips off, then go ahead. Otherwise put the money to better use., buy ammo and go out and shoot that pistol until you axtually wear off enough of its finish to require a cosmetic job.

All the best,
Glenn B

If you knew, that in a few weeks, that you were about to go into a Jungle Environment or were going to be around Salt Water a lot, AND that was the Only Pistol you could take, then, MAYBE. If you need to do anything to it, do the mechanicals ( like replacing Springs, maybe different sights, etc.), but other wise, leave it alone.

But a new holster from DragonLeatherworks for Christmas would be nice.

I'm with the guys, don't bother I like the look of holster wear. Means it isn't a safe queen.

But I'll also second Bluesun...unless you want to do something wild with duracoat or other such wild colors for guns.

No.

The finish shows the history of the gun. Adds character to the gun.

I would refinish if rust is a concern. Modern finishes actually impregnate the metal and still provide protection even if worn. For some strange reason sigs and hks look better to me with a little wear and tear.

What for? Spend it on ammo and practice, or laser-grips or a light attachment or something - hell put a RMR or a Deltapoint in the rear dovetail - they do it to Glocks and M&P's all the time, there must be room on the Sig slide.

Well it needs new night sights, so I'll get some Meps and leave it at that.

I am hoping Santa will bring me a JPoint sight and a Sig p226 dovetail plate - it fits my p220 too.
