The anti-gunners are trying to the "throw everything against the wall and see what sticks" approach. They've proposed a whole bunch of anti-gun legislation in the past few days.
House Bill 35 would ban all private sales except those to immediate family and create a state registry for all purchases. It also brings back the state level SBI background check that was done away with either last year or the year prior because it was a waste of time and money. SBI will be completely unable to handle the load and I suspect we'll see "instant" transfers taking weeks like what we see in Maryland. "A right delayed is a right denied" only anti-gun / anti-freedom folks consider this a feature not a bug.
Senate Bill 23 would remove Delaware's preemption statute. This one is huge, as it would make this state dangerous for any law-abiding gun owner to live in or travel to. It would also ensure that Wilmington will become even more of a crime ridden cesspool than it already is. We've already got one of the highest per capita murder rates in the country. There's also an accompanying House Bill 62
House Bill 58 would ban the manufacture, sale, transfer, purchase, receipt or unlawful possession of standard capacity magazines. Basically, It makes it so we have no way to get any new magazines over 10 rounds and we can't have them in any "public place" while also in possession of a gun that can accept them. Stop for a bite to eat on your way home from the range? Oops, you're now a criminal. This will make it so I can't carry the one gun I OC most frequently, my Walther PPQ.
What's worse, is that my correspondence with some of our Republican legislators indicates that all / most of it will likely pass. Anything I've written to an inner city Democrat has gone unanswered, which is unsurprising since they're completely unconcerned with civil rights. We have a liberal controlled assembly, and I fear they will just run roughshod over Republicans (who will cave easily) to shit all over gun owners and Article 1 Section 20 of the Delaware Constitution.
The sad truth is this. You can call, e-mail and write your representatives, but many of them, especially the leftists you have the most to fear from, simply do not care what you have to say. They will do what they think is right and will not bother to listen to or respond to your concerns. They also do not care about civil liberties and will virtually never come down on the side of your individual rights.
