If the current laws aren't stopping violent people from committing violent acts lets just make the crimes they're already committing illegaler. That'll learn em'!
The sad thing is that folks like MikeB actually believe that if we pass just one more law the violent people will see the errors of their ways, sit down, hold hands & sing kumbaya with the rest of us.

There's no way MikeB believes that! He wouldn't be smart enough to run a computer if that was so.
I'm not sure what MikeB's motives are (I'm curious if he's a Sockpuppet or a Strawman from one of the political groups) but his motives are certainly not passing ONE more law, or to make crime less.
Certainly less cryptic pro-ignorance anti-freedom types, their goals are to ban ALL guns, crime rates be damned, and they don't do much to hide it.

Unfortunately, MikeB's new tactic seems to be "If we pass enough laws that no one can own firearms, criminals will not be able to get them either!" Basically, persecute law-abiding citizens for daring to exercise their rights (own/carry firearms), being occasional victims (thefts/robberies), and want to engage in lawful commerce (sell/purchase firearms from non-FFL individuals), and all the problems in the world will go away.
But it is to make ours a better world... make them all better worlds...

The truth be told is that not one gun grabber thinks one more law will make anyone a pacifist. What they do think is that one more law, and maybe another after that, each being repeatedly violated is all it will take for them to get other people to start believing their way. Teir way is that it is the evil gun that needs to be taken away from all of us so such laws can never be vioolated again. Of course then it will follow that the evil knife will be next, then the evil baseball bat, then the evil glass beer pitcher and so forth.
