I'm watching a documentary on the history of gang violence in America. It's sad how little has changed in the last 40 years. The same basic "I want something and I'm gonna take it from you anyway I can" attitude is still the prevailing one among the most violent members of society. Such an attitude was, and still is impervious to reason.
By the way, in many of the robberies discussed the victims were murdered after giving up money and cooperating.
