Gas prices and Obama's idiocy

So I was watching the news last night and the Teevee talking heads mentioned that Obama's DOJ wants to "investigate" fraud, manipulation, gouging etc. in the energy markets.  You have got to be fucking kidding me?

Here's a newsflash for those of you who may not know.  Oil is a commodity and is traded on the futures markets.  All market trading is based upon speculation, yet if you listened to the talking heads you'd think the term "speculation" was as evil as the term "assault weapon."

Furthermore, oil futures are priced in USD.  What the hell did you jackoffs expect would happen when you directed the Fed to print dollars like monopoly money and drive the value of the dollar through the floor?  This is the real world, not the liberal land of oil sharting unicorns.  In the real world actions have consequences.  What the hell did you think would happen when you started another war and restricted domestic oil supplies?

I absolutely love some of the comments to the CNN article Tam linked to, especially the one saying Obama should just cap the price of gas at $1.99/gal.  Do schools not teach basic economics these days, because it should be common knowledge that price controls will always be an abject failure.

The truly sad thing is that Obama and the media will say "High gas prices are the fault of the evil oil companies" and plenty of dumb folks will believe them.  Even worse, they will want to have the government come in and "fix" things, when it is the government causing the rise in prices in the first place.

You see, there's this thing called inflation.  It makes prices rise because the dollar in your pocket now has less purchasing power.  Obama wants you to believe it's speculation, gouging, fraud, anything but the qualitative easing caused by his moronic voodoo economics.  It's not.  It's the fault of the Federal government.  Hell, Mcdonalds has raised prices due to inflation.  It's not just gas prices, it's everything.  Things aren't actually getting more expensive, the dollar is just losing value.  It never ceases to amaze me how many people simply do not understand this.

So, the next time you pay $4/ gal. at the pump or pay a premium for bacon, don't blame the oil companies, farmers or the grocery store.  Blame Obama and the Federal Reserve for doing this to the dollar by trying to spend our way out of a recession & driving the U.S. into debt never before seen in our history.  I'm still trying to decide if those in control of government are really this goddamn stupid, or if they're malicious and actively trying to ruin this country.

I think most of them are just out to make a buck off the backs of the taxpayers. Ruining the country is just a happy accident.

I've long held the opinion that 0bama knows EXACTLY what he's doing. For all his faults in is NOT stupid. He and his comrades know they need to weaken America first in order to create their dream utopia. The leftists are all too happy to go along. The right is not seeing the forest for the trees, and is fighting the wrong battles.

This guy hit the nail on the head:

Read it, and be afraid. Very afraid.

While inflation is a major factor, supply and demand price rises don't really apply here anymore, that is until more OPEC countries besides Saudi Arabia decide to cut back production. What is of major interest is the Vegas like gambling going on in the commodities market fueled by constant recommendations by those same old Too Big to Fail investment houses. While I'm not in favor of any price fixing I don't mind a little investigation into that crowd.

Buffalo is up to 3.99(9). I'm about a half hour from Canada, and the exchange is back in Canada's favor by about a nickel on the buck. The dollar is getting hammered.

Overheard on the RMS Titanic: "Captain Smith! Captain Smith! The sea level is rising, sir!"

Instead of either/or think both/and. Any sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.
