I had a dream last night. In it I was open carrying a broken Taurus. A Taurus! What the hell?!

The problem with a Taurus is, even if it's not broken, the trigger pulls are so high it might as well be.
I used to think so. Then a friend bought a Taurus 1911. Solid, accurate, not fancy and the trigger was stock, but it put them where you aimed them and ate what it was fed.
I'm generally not a Taurus fan, but I've had a 605 revolver for years and it has been as good as any other. I've had experience with two of the PT1911s and they've been great. That said, the odds have been the other direction. I have a friend that had 100% failure with half a dozen of their products.
and yes, I would say that a nightmare would start with carrying a Taurus. Broken or not.
