So apparently my parents find it "scary" that I am knowledgeable about guns / gun-laws. They act like it's a bad thing that I make a point to know the major gun laws of Delaware and other States.
We were discussing the NIU shootings and I was pointing out the differences between IL's super strict laws and our middle-of-the-road laws. When pressed my mom couldn't offer any real explanation of why my being knowledgeable about something that interests me would be "scary."

Sounds like the programming from the government and media has paid off in their case. Most people are frightened of firearms because the attitude is taught to them.
