At the food court I sometimes frequent for lunch I'll often see folks open carrying in a polo shirt and khakis. They're usually carrying either a Glock or Sig of some sort.
Oh wait, they're plainclothes cops, with a snazzy little badge they can show you if they feel like it. Funny how that puts the sheeple so at ease.

I always thought someone should make a badge that read "THIS BADGE ISN'T REAL I JUST LIKE TO OPEN CARRY" and then have a nice city or state emblem.
Long before there was a real CCW in Missouri I carried (legitimately) off of a Process Servers License. One day while having lunch with a buddy while wearing a suit I took of my jacket and thought "ah screw it".
The waitress tried to see if I had a badge on the other side a few times, and finally when I could tell she was gonna ask I took a bit out of my sandwich. Then as she was asking me if I was "legal" I simply flashed my credentials (no badge but very "city official").
In the millisecond it took to flash it and close it she was satisfied. My buddy and I just looked at each other and shook our heads at what she found comfort in.
People assume that anyone who carries a weapon is either a cop or a criminal. If you are dressed nicely and act in a calm manner with a "cop" looking gun in a nice holster, they assume you are a cop. Dress in torn jeans and a t shirt with a pistol in a cheap Uncle Mikes nylon holster, and you must be a criminal.
