TSA - It's Dangerous Because It's Tactical

In it's latest bout of moronic idiocy the TSA has banned Tactical pens. Why? Who knows, maybe they're channeling Josh Sugarmann with some kind of tactical = scary = dangerous line of reasoning.

Any object in the hands of someone intent to harm you is going to be dangerous. I still have the mark on my left palm from when I was stabbbed with a #2 pencil to prove it.

Holding It Together

You can have a huge steel hogleg and a beautiful custom holster, but they don't do you much good without a quality belt to hold it all together. Luckily Michael & Jennifer will make you such a belt.

*They also make holsters. Check em' out at The Holster Site.

A review of The Best Belt should be up soon, along with a few other reviews I need to post.

One Wonders...

Why I did not use an Amazon Wishlist to compile a Christmas list before now?

In reality it's just a "shit I want" list rather than strictly a Christmas list, but is there really a practical difference?

No blog today

No posts today. I've been hanging at my brother's with the kiddos and their brand new puppy. Terrible pic. She wouldn't stop moving.

My brother & 5 year old nephew went hunting the other day & the little one went straight for the neck of one of the dead geese they brought home. My nephew was super excited to tell me all about the hunting trip and his 20 gauge.

My family makes Sarah Brady cry one nephew at a time!

What The Fuck DHS?

Napolitano and the rest of her petty tyrant minions are either totally brain dead or they have absolutely no respect for the American people. I can't say I'm surprised. If they can get people to submit to civil rights violations when boarding planes why not expand the reach of the government?

How long before we have to go through similarly invasive "security checkpoints" when simply driving across state lines? If we are not free to move about our own damn country (and it is OUR country) are we really free in any meaningful way?

Also, there is precedent for a Constitutional right to travel. See Saenz v. Roe (1999) U.S. v. Guest (1966) and Shapiro v. Thompson (1969) The Articles of Confederation also explicitly mentioned a right to travel.

As Justice Stewart made clear in his concurrence in Shapiro,

"It is a right broadly assertable against private interference as well as governmental action. Like the right of association, it is a virtually unconditional personal right, guaranteed by the Constitution to us all."

Ammo Update

I ordered some Federal HST in .45ACP back in March of 2009. Not only did a fellow Sigforum member e-mail me to inform me that it was back in stock at several websites, but I got a shipping notification from Streichers.

Yes folks, this ammo was backordered for 20 months! Frankly I'd forgotten I even ordered it.

Give Thanks On Turkey Day

I am thankful for blogging, bacon, beer and big butts.....

On a more serious note, I'm thankful to live in what is still the most free country in the world. I'm thankful for great family & friends. I'm thankful to be part of a gunblogging community that stands up for their rights and epitomizes everything that is great about this country. Thanks to all my fellow gunbloggers and readers.

Happy Gobble, Gobble day everyone!

Dear DHS - I'll Wear It Proudly

Janet Napolitano and the Department of Homeland Security consider me a "Domestic Extremist" for having the temerity to stand up for my rights and for using the 1st Amendment to criticize the government.

If that's the case then you're damn right I'm a "Domestic Extremist." I'd consider such a label a badge of honor as a free citizen. If asserting and freely exercising my rights is wrong then I don't want to be right. I'm with Tam, I'd be a little insulted if I'm not on their list. After all, what was it Barry Goldwater said about extremism in defense of Constitutional Rights?

If standing up for my rights and those of my fellow Americans causes "travel disruptions" then tough luck Janet. You've pushed too far and some of us are pushing back with words and non-compliance. Put on your big girl pants and deal with it.

As for me, well I aim to misbehave.

Brewmasters

The guys from local Dogfish Head Brewery were on Brewmasters on the Discovery Channel.

You should watch it! Very informative & funny. The owners rapping about Bitches Brew and the rap video with the gangsta Dogfish chains had me in side-splitting laughter.

*see TV listings at the link. Bonus points if you drink a DFH brew while watching.

Oh Hell No

"The woman who checked me reached her hands inside my underwear and felt her way around, It was basically worse than going to the gynecologist. It was embarrassing. It was demeaning. It was inappropriate."

- ABC News employee who was groped.

You reach inside my boxers without my consent and I will forcibly remove your hand from my genitals. Had that same thing happened to me I'm almost positive I'd have ended up getting arrested.

Give power to the government and it will be abused. These TSA abuses are the manifestation of that truism.

Also, check out the headline of the article.

More Proof the TSA Are Morons

Passenger Sam Wolanyk refuses the X-Ray machine and, knowing he'll be patted down, strips down to his skivvies. How does the TSA respond? Oh, by telling him he'll need to put his clothes back on so he can be properly patted down. Brilliant, just brilliant!

If I'm already in my undies then making me re-dress so you can grope me to look for contraband on my person is flat out idiotic.

Also, both Wolanyk and a bystander were arrested for filming the incident and had their iPhones confiscated. Silly me, I thought we lived in America not Soviet Russia. How could such a thing happen in California, the land of liberal tolerance?

Who is Sam Wolanyk? The same guy who was falsely arrested for Open Carry by the San Diego PD and settled for $35K. I hope he sues these assholes too and wins another judgement.

A Confession

I've finally begun reading Atlas Shrugged. I've never read it before.

It Has Finally Ended

I'm going to go ahead and say that the ammo crisis is over. Ammoman has been overpriced for a while now and even they have .380 available at decent prices. Under $15 / box for .380 is pretty good. Hell, Federal XM193 is back down to $309 and .223 PMC is $299. It's been a while since I've seen good brass cased .223 for under $300.

More importantly ammo in all major calibers seems to be available again.

Blood In The Streets!

Bill Holga, the wildly ignorant and anti-gun President of Kilgore college recently stated the following in a interview where he opposed CCW on Texas Campuses.

"During the Luby’s massacre] you had multiple shooters, and innocent people were killed by other people who had concealed, licensed handguns, because they weren’t sure who was the shooter and who was a defender"

Ah, the standard "blood in the streets!" CCW holders will just shoot each other argument. Never mind the fact that such events don't happen. Never mind the fact that Texas didn't have CCW until 1995 while the Luby's shooting occurred in 1991. The situation Holga speaks of in reference to Luby's simply didn't happen. Suzanna Hupp had her gun in the car that day in 1991, because it would've been a felony for her to carry it into the cafeteria that day. There was no shootout, no CCW holders carrying in Luby's, none of that.

We see this type of behavior often with anti-gunners like Holga. It's a simple case of "I reject your reality and subsitute my own." It doesn't matter what the truth is. If they can make shit up in order to further their cause of restricting the rights of Americans they will do so. They can do that, and they'll be exposed as the lying bigots they are.

Sarah and Mom has an e-mail response from Holga. He barely pauses to acknowledge his "inaccuracies" and then goes into a poorly written e-mail that is full of further falsehoods. Since he's continued to dig in, W. Scott Lewis of Campuscarry.com exposes and debunks each of his new lies.

You may have been trying to channel Goebbels Mr. Holga. Unfortunately for you there's this newfangled thing called the internet. Thank god for that, because the mainstream media outlet that interviewed Holga didn't even attempt to challenge his claim. (big surprise there)

Hey Look, Word Substitution

Over at Erik's place, not here.

I will never understand bigotry towards gays. Whatever your personal feelings towards gays, blacks, latinos (insert any group here) what they do in their personal lives with regards to intimate relationships and /or marriage has no bearing on your life, so why concern yourself with it at all?

Pastor Brown should remember that when "the will of the people" results in an outright violation of the rights of a particular group then that "will of the people" can and should be overturned.

TSA - Recycled Thoughts

This post was originally written June 25th. Given the recent TSA happenings I'm reposting it.

I saw this yesterday and it made me so angry that I really wasn't in the mood to blog about it. No one, amputees or otherwise, should be subjected to this, particularly not in full view of the public. Frankly, this kind of bullshit should make you angry. It should anger you that we subject those with disabilities to obtrusive, humiliating and ineffective "security procedures" all because some assholes hijacked a plane with boxcutters.

This woman was humiliated and her child scared to death because Americans want to "feel" safe. Meanwhile anyone who's ever been through the screening process knows that the TSA are a bunch of incompetent bums. This is about control. It's about turning us into good little submissive sheep. We get used to it, then the boot presses down a bit more and we just sit back and take it without protest. That is, assuming we even realize the boot is pressing harder upon our necks.

I received an e-mail at work a few weeks ago about a little boy who was a double amputee. I found his story and attitude inspirational and thought about posting it. I didn't because I thought it deserved something more substantive than a tiny blurb and a "here's an inspirational human interest story/pictures." The thought of that little boy having to constantly endure this kind of abuse at the hands of the government "for his own good" bothers me to no end. If they can make this woman and her child cry, make Breda cry, how will that awesome little boy respond to the abuse.

It's not just the screening process itself either. It's being singled out because you're "different." It wears on you, even if those doing it are doing it with the intention of helping. One of the things that anyone with a disability most wants is to be treated just like everyone else. Obviously that's just not possible in all cases and under all circumstances, but the last thing we need are government drones humiliating people and destroying their spirit. That of course is exactly what they want to do to us. Condition us, control us, and turn us into mindless "Baaa-ing" sheep. Fuck that, I'll drive whenever possible.

H/T to Breda

Creating Criminals

New Jersey gun owner Brian Aiken is now a felon and will serve 7 years in prison even though he tried to abide by the law and there was no malicious intent in his actions.

Make no mistake, there are areas of this country where the law has made being a gun owner extremely hazardous. New Jersey is one of the worst offenders. The judge at Aiken's trial would not even allow jury instructions regarding exceptions to New Jersey's byzantine transport laws or FOPA Why? Because he, Judge Morley, didn't feel they were relevant given the facts of the case.

New Jersey's gun laws are not about lowering crime. They're about driving out gun owners, persecuting them, and lowering gun ownership rates in the Garden State. That is the goal of all gun control, to reduce civilian ownership of firearms to as close to zero as possible.

As the court stated in New Jersey vs. Pelleteri,
"When dealing with guns, the citizen acts at his peril."

As far as the state is concerned that's a feature not a bug. Gun laws are constructed to be as onerous for the average citizen to comply with as possible. They are meant to be perilous for those who wish to remain upstanding, law-abiding citizens. Unfortunately Mr. Aiken found that out the hard way.

Given cases like this, or this one, where someone on Facebook posts a picture of himself unwittingly committing a Federal felony, it's hard not to marvel at Ayn Rand's prescience when she opined,

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

I would bet that many folks have no clue that attaching a forward grip to a handgun is a federal felony. I'd imagine it's not uncommon for some young guy to think "oh cool, this'll fit on the rail of my pistol" without giving any thought to whether not it's a crime. Why would they? No reasonable person would think that doing so is a felony.

She Touched My Pepe, Steve!

In an effort to bring a bit of levity to the TSA brouhaha I thought I'd say that the line "She touched my pepe, Steve!" from Multiplicity was one of the 1st things to cross my mind after the John Tyner incident.

Also, see this cartoon.

On a more serious note, I've now talked to two people who think that what the TSA is doing is OK because "OH NOES, TERRORISTS!" One of them actually said that 4th Amendment violations were ok because of national security and the damage that blowing up planes would do to the U.S. economy.

*headdesk*

The kicker? These folks are both Obama supporters who absolutely detest President Bush. Sadly I think many of my fellow Americans enjoy their chains more than they love liberty.

A Blog To Watch

The Obama Fail Blog. I'll definitely be keeping tabs on this one.

"We Have To Pass The Bill to Find Out What's In It"

Remember Nancy Pelosi saying those words back in March?

Well now that we actually passed Obamacare we're finding things out. Even Obama concedes that the bill hurts the economy and small businesses in particular. Here's what Dear Leader had to say

"The 1099 provision in the healthcare bill appears to be too burdensome for small businesses,"... "It just involves too much paperwork, too much filing. It's probably counterproductive."

Yes, the same moron who ran around frantically trying to tell all of us how awesome Obamacare would be now admits that it's counterproductive. You mean to tell me that oppressive bureacracy is counterproductive and burdensome for businesses? Say it ain't so, Joe!

If Obamacare isn't repealed it's going to create a giant clusterfuck as provisions go into effect and their practical implications come to light. We're going to see a lot more of this.

But wait, there's more! Corporate America (and unions) are receiving Obamacare opt-out waivers to keep them from dropping coverage for employees. How many times did you hear folks like myself say that Obamacare would cause employers to simply stop offering coverage? Hmm, and now the government is modifying the rules for large corporations in order to keep that very thing from happening.

Even the AARP, which campaigned furiously in support of Obamacare, is now admitting that it failed to deliver on its central promise of lowering costs.

Inconceivable! No one could possibly have anticipated any of this....

Thank god we voted at least some of these bums out.

Quote of The Day - Teach Them Young

"I don't get too many offers for babysitting, and we live in a development, so shoveling snow is not an option either," said Andrew. "We were being entrepreneurs , but now I feel a little defeated."

That, young Andrew DeMarchis, is exactly the point. Capitalism is evil you see, and if the New York public school system is successful in its indoctrination attempts you will come to see that this is so.

This is yet another example of government regulation and mindless burecracy squashing good, clean capitalism.

Here's the money quote from the Parks superintendent Robert Snyder

"If it's the Girl Scouts selling cookies or the local youth organization raising money for charity, the fee can be waived,"But if Sally and Judy wanted to make money to go to the movies, theremight be a charge, and their parents would have to be involved ."

Right, so let's say that some neighborhood kids realize that there are pickup basketball games every saturday afternoon at 2PM in the county park and these games draw a sizable number of potential thirsty customers. They decide to setup a lemonade stand. Like any good capitalist they recognize a potential market and seek to supply it. They would have to apply for and receive a business permit and pay a prohibitively expensive fee to the government.

Let's squash their dreams, deny them spending money, and discourage future entreprenuership. That'll teach em' to mess with the government or try to sell goods for a profit. How dare they!

Sadly this is not unusual behavior amongst our government overlords nor is it surprising that such things are happening in Liberal strongholds.

ETA - H/T to Jay G. - Thanks for getting me pissed off enough to write something here.

A Message For The TSA

I think a proper post is called for regarding TSA's bullshit. For now though I think this saying from a Cafepress T-shirt will suffice.

"Rosa Parks Wouldn't Stand For Your BS"

The TSA are nothing more than a bunch of thugs. The entire agency should be abolished.

From the TSA's website, a poll saying that most approve of the new body scanners.

In response to that, to the extent that there's any truth to it, I can't say anything better than to offer the words of Samuel Adams,

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I stand by what I said on Twitter yesterday. If you're not outraged by TSA bullshit something is very wrong with you.

I highly suggest everyone watch this video and re-read Breda's posts about her humiliating experiences with the incompetent TSA bums. Unfortunately when it comes to the TSA humiliation and intimidation of American citizens is a feature not a bug.

Update - Read Bitter's story too. Like I said, it's all about humiliation and intimidation. I suspect things will get worse as citizens start to push back and the government clamps down on those who won't mindlessly accept their authoritah.

Quote of The Day - Veterans Day

"One of the most important lessons of Vietnam is learning to distinguish between the policy makers in Washington and the grunts on the ground....Wanting to stop future senseless wars is an honorable goal, but it should not come at the expense of no longer acknowledging the sacrifice of those who serve in the military- most especially because sometimes that sacrifice is so woefully misused by those in power."

Commenter "Nathan"

I couldn't agree more with Nathan. I've never understood those who choose to attack, insult and dishonor those who served simply because they disapproved of the war being fought. I'll never forget the level of disrespect, even outright hatred I saw liberal college students display towards fellow students in uniform. Thankfully such students were in the minority. Grunts on the ground don't make policy, politicians in ivory towers do. Take your anger out on them, not on men and women who volunteered to serve.

As for the blog post being commented on, which calls for Veteran's Day to be cancelled, it shows both ignorance and blatant disrespect towards those who have served this nation. I could fisk it, but I lack the patience at the moment.

*And if you think the post is bad in the beginning, just wait till you get to point #4. That really rubbed me the wrong way. Hell, #2 as well. Were he alive today I can only imagine what my grandpa, who served as an army infantryman in both WWII and Korea would say upon reading something like that.

Quote Of The Day - What They Should Have Said

"A properly ordered militia composed of the whole of the people, functioning correctly, and being necessary to keeping the people in a state of Freedom, the right of these people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, restricted, regulated, impugned, abridged, or complained about, bitches."

- Newbius - In comments here. I laughed out loud

BB & Guns - Gunnie Gadgetry

That's right folks, after a week off Breda is back on the air! Tonight she wants to hear about all the crap you carry in your pockets. If you carry & fling poo then by all means, bring that up too. Unfortunately I'll be missing the show again this week :(

Tune into BB & Guns tonight at 8PM.

My daily carry crap is pictured in this post, except now I've added my apartment key, a CKRT Peck and a Dogfish Head bottle opener to my keychain. Also, my old Benchmade Mini Pika has been replaced with a CKRT Drifter as an EDC knife. The LDK gets stowed away in my wallet.

That's Racist!...

If I saw a black man walking around town in a predominantly white area of town, say Greenville or Hockessin, and I said to him "hey black boy! What you doin' down here?" Would that be racist? What if I was with a friend and said to the friend "Hey look Joe, look at that black boy." That'd be racist, no?

I wonder then, how is it not racist when those comments are directed at me, a "white boy" by someone of a different skin tone simply because I happen to be walking in an area of the city where you don't see many white folks?

On a related note, I've been stopped twice in as many months by cops who said some variation of "Oh, you don't want to walk down that way." Did I mention I how much I dislike walking into a bad part of the city at night?

Wilmington's slogan is "A place to be somebody." On one of the welcome signs entering the city the word "Be" has been scratched out and the word "Kill" carved in. Sadly the amended sign rings true given the violent crime & murder rates we have here. The city would probably pass more gun control if not for Delaware having preemption. Surely that'd stop the violence, just like it has in DC and Chicago.

I Love Obamacare

Remember when President Obama said that Obamacare would lower health insurance premiums?

Just to refresh your memory, Obama had this to say back in March,

"How many people are getting insurance through their jobs right now? Raise your hands. All right, well, a lot of those folks, your employer, it’s estimated, would see premiums fall by as much as 3000%, which means they could give you a raise!"

Well my monthly premiums just went up for 2011, and people with HSA / FSA's got royally screwed by the healthcare bill.

Bonus - Jesse Jackson says repealing Obamacare would be "creeping genocide." Yep, as usual he's calling you a racist if you disagree with "progressive" policies. I'm sure you're all shocked!

Thanks!

Thank a Veteran today, and if you see a dirty hippie being a condescending asshole towards someone in uniform please tell him to have a little respect and to take a shower.

The Tactical Craze

Has gone too far. First tactical underwear, now we've got tactical notebook kits and a $200+ tactical pen. At least we have tactical bacon, which is never a bad thing.

Pigs Feeding At The Trough

The economy is in the crapper, millions of Americans are out of work, but if you're the Feds business is booming. The private sector falls on tough times, thanks in large part to government involvement, yet the Federal government is an insatiable pig feeding at a taxpayer funded trough that never goes empty.

Hell, employees with 14 to 25 years seniority have seen a 25% increase in pay over 5 years. That is disgusting.

Individuals have cut back, families have cut back, states have cut back, yet the Federal government continues to spend like a drunken sailor and act like everything it hunky dory.

I'd like to thank Obama as well as that wonderful "fiscal conservative" George W. Bush....

Quote of The Day - Well-Regulated

"Whereas in all well regulated Governments, it is the indispensable duty of every Legislature to consult the Happiness of a rising Generation, and endeavour to fit them for an honorable Discharge of the Social Duties of Life, by paying the strictest attention to their Education."

- Act of the North Carolina Legislature - November 12, 1789

I know, this is somewhat "beating a dead horse" since most of us know that "well-regulated" did not mean regulated by government in the sense that we use the term "regulate" today. It meant "well-functioning / properly functioning," "in good order" and in the context of the 2nd Amendment, "well armed and trained."

Still, I like historical citations that make it plainly clear that the words of the 2nd Amendment do not mean what anti-gunners want them to mean.

Reality Eludes Them

"Since their goal is mayhem, and often suicide by cop they are as likely to choose armed citizens to attack as let the presence of other guns deter them. This means that tighter restrictions on firearms, not a more general arming of citizens, would probably reduce the incidence of mass shootings more effectively."

- R. Stanton Scott. - Talking about spree shooters

As usual anti-gunners like Mr. Scott make such statements within their own fantasy world rather than the real world. Mass shootings over the last few decades have predominantly taken place in "gun free zones." They're also still taking place in Europe despite the kind of gun control Paul Helmke would find orgasmic. Stan claims "they are as likely to choose armed citizens to attack" yet he offers no evidence to support such a claim. (surprise, surprise) Mr. Scott is, as Joe Huffman would put it, "incapable of determining truth from falsity.

Not only have such shootings generally occurred in "Gun Free Zones," but armed citizens have a good track record of stopping spree shooters.

One should also note that Stan's 2nd sentence has no logical connection to his 1st. If such shooters are "as likely" to choose armed vicitms as they are to choose unarmed ones, then tighter restrictions on firearms would have no impact on the frequency of such incidences. Furthermore, who such murderers choose to kill (armed or unarmed victims) has no bearing on the frequency of the incidences.

Rational thought has never been a strong suit of the anti-gun mind. I for one am happy that anti-gun bigots demonstrate this for us on a regular basis.

Quote of The Day - Our Liberal Friends

"Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so. "

- Ronald Reagan - "A Time for Choosing" speech - October 27, 1964

Take the time to read the entire speech, or listen to it on youtube. The parallels to today are incredible.

Last Ditch Knife

Back in September, friend and community organizer extraordinaire Breda sent me this cute little birthday present. I promptly took pictures, posted them as a draft post, and then completely forgot about the post until now. My apologies. I tend to do that.

Pictured below is a Ka-Bar Last Ditch Knife, otherwise known as the LDK.

Since receiving this one I've bought 3 more to give away to friends. I also got one for my mother, who absolutely *had* to have one upon seeing it.

I've seen some criticisms of this knife. Some say it's too small to do any damage. I tend to think it's better than nothing, hence the name "Last Ditch Knife." The one valid criticism I've read is that it's too small to hold easily. I could see how this wouldn't work for someone with big / thick fingers. My lanky digits have no issues with it.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. These were taken in bad lighting with a now outdated iPhone 3G. I'm amazed at how much better the pictures are on the new Droids.

If you're looking for anything Ka-Bar I highly recommend Tomar's Kabars. They've got just about everything, including some very nice USMC fighting knives.
*Had to drop by the parents place to grab a few things. That meant internet access and a new post for all 3 of my readers. ;)

Light Posting Ahead

So I move into the new place and 3 days later the wireless router craps out. Then, I run an ethernet cable into my room, use it once and then break it.

I'm hoping to pick up a new router and be up and running again by the end of the week, so blogging should resume then. I may or may not post from the iPhone in the meantime.

I was also involved in a hit & run over the weekend. Not nearly as bad as Breda's (car is driveable, just has some marks on the bumper) but now my back hurts. I didn't even get a good look at the damn truck beyond "old, dark colored pickup" which is a useless description. I hate people.

Quote Of The Day - Commerce

“The duty of government is to leave commerce to its own capital and credit as well as all other branches of business, protecting all in their legal pursuits, granting exclusive privileges to none”.

- Andrew Jackson

It'd be nice if government actually abided by that duty.

Off The Air

It appears Keith Olbermann is off the air. He's been suspended by MSNBC. Good. Olbermann was a prime example of a lying, ignorant, raging leftist. That said, Olbermann has never pretended to be anything but a biased political hack, regardless of the fact that MSNBC calls him a "news anchor."

Now, I don't necessarily think that media outlets should have policies barring individual campaign contributions by employees. That said, Olbermann is free to support any Liberal politician he chooses, and MSNBC is free terminate him for violating his employment contract. I've never marveled at Olbermann's intelligence, but even I thought he'd know better than to blatantly violate MSNBC's ethics policies. Actions have consequences Keith.

Now, If Chris Matthews had done this I could almost excuse him. That "tingle up his leg" must be mighty distracting.

Preview Not Review

I finally got a chance to crack open the Dogfish Bitches Brew that'd been sitting in a fridge 100 miles away for the better part of two months.

Review tonight, before I forget what it tasted like & have to track down another bottle. ;)

It was good but there was one flavor I found a bit overpowering. Here's a teaser. It's dark.

My baby sis's words were "eww, it looks like soy sauce."

That's OK Jess, we still love you even if you're not a beer snob... Yet.

*Also, a word of advice. Skip Dogfish Head's "Pangea" unless you really like ginger. I don't and so that brew did absolutely nothing for me.

Quote of The Day - My Rifle

"Yep, forget the PC, MSR crap, call it an “AR” and say it with feeling because here in America you can call your rifle anything you want!"

-Gunwriter

I call mine Snuffleupagus, though Elmo is a pretty cool cat too!

Home Invasions

Anti-gun folks like to say that you're paranoid to keep a gun for home defense. Plain reality proves otherwise.

This home invasion, involving multiple assailants, happened minutes from the place I just moved into. Shit happens. Be aware. Be prepared.

Got A Permit for That?

Don't wear this bullet ring in Massachusetts, someone might consider it "ammunition components" requiring a permit to possess.

I still find it incredible that you become a felon if you have one round or one piece of spent brass but don't have the government permission slip that says it's OK.

H/T to Breda, who should rock that kind of bling in the library.

Liberals Are Amusing

Liberal anti-gunner and bigot Southern Beale wrote the following and I have to admit I laughed.

"The bright spot is California, which is returning to sanity."

Yes, California, the state that is choking on it's own vomit and hoping the Feds perform CPR before it's too late. California, bright spot, sanity, all in the same sentence? Jesus. Though I suppose if you're SoBeale and you can't determine truth from falsity then you also can't determine sanity from insanity.

She also believes that the Democrats lost on Tuesday because they weren't Liberal enough. It's nice to see that some folks are just as shockingly tone deaf as Obama. Maybe SoBeale's been taking bong hits from Krugman's stash?

Quote of The Day - Knowing

"Most ignorance is vincible ignorance. We don't know because we don't want to know. "

- Aldous Huxley

One only need look at anti-gun bloggers or 08' Obama supporters to see the truth in that.

More Calls For Violence From the Left

I guess Jerry could be talking about Commies or the goddamn Soviets, but I doubt it.

How much do you want to bet he's anti-gun as well?

Bitter watched a Democrat tell a 12 year old at the polls yesterday that Republicans should drop dead. Maybe he was related to a certain Liberal here in Delaware who called for Republicans to be rounded up and shot?

H/T to Pistolero

Why You Should Never Hand A Loaded Gun To A Newbie

Because having someone muzzle you, even momentarily, with one of your own guns is pretty damn uncool.*

I'm a pretty quiet guy, but I can yell "Watch where you're pointing that thing!" really damn loud. I didn't actually yell all that loud, but loud enough to get the point across.

*The gun in question was not loaded and all ammo & mags were in a separate room but that's irrelevant. Remember rule #1.

I See Dead People!

Only in California could the voters elect a dead woman to the State Senate. I guess this can be explained by Pavlovian conditioning, since the dead candidate Jenny Oropseza was a Democrat.

It must really suck being a Republican in California. If you can't beat a dead person who can you beat?

Remember This Petty Tyrant?

I'm sure most of my readers remember Rep. Bob Etheridge, (D) the Liberal Congressman who assaulted a kid who dared ask him a question. He got his ass voted out!

Of all the bums voted out yesterday this one makes me especially happy.

Quote Of The Day - Idealism in Politics

"Idealism is the noble toga that political gentlemen drape over their will to power. "

- Aldous Huxley

That's why it pays to be a cynic, particularly in the political realm.

Quote Of The Day - Vote

I'm bringing back an old QOTD first posted January 2008. Why? Because I think it's a good election day reminder. It's also a quote I reference when people deride me for voting for Libertarians.

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”

- John Quincy Adams

Vote The Bums Out

It's election day! Time to vote the bums out!

The good news? Republicans are set to make historic gains in today's midterms.

The bad news? Republicans are set to make historic gains in today's midterms.

We're voting out a set of bums for another set of slightly less objectionable bums. On a more cheery note, gridlock makes me smile!

YAY! More Security Theater!

Looks like we'll be getting even better pat downs by the TSA before flying the friendly skies. What's next? Little green men and anal probing?

I'm with Laura, I think folks should make a scene while being violated. Use your imagination!

H/T to Weer'd

A Proposal

I propose we ban Monday. It's the ugly cousin of the week that no one wants to be seen with.

Sadly, banning Monday will probably be about as effective as banning guns....
