Selfishness
I want to highlight Obama's quote,
“You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness.”
As far as I'm concerned selfishness is a virtue and most of what individuals do is done in their own self-interest. Even if I'm "sacrificing" in order to help someone else I'm doing it because I want to, because I get a sense of self-fulfillment out of it. In short, it makes me feel good. I actually discussed this topic back in March.
Funny how he claims wanting to keep more of ones own money is "selfishness" yet neither he nor Biden ponied up sizable chunks of their income to give to charity. He wants to extort money from hard working American taxpayers and give it to others. That is the height of selfishness. If he wants to help people he and Michelle (and Biden) can dole money out of their own coffers.
Until Obama's willing to lead by example he'd damn well better not accuse other Americans of "Selfishness." Walk the walk before you talk the talk..... What am I saying we all know Mr. Barack guns for me but not for thee Obama would never do that. All the shit he spews about sacrifice is meant to apply to "other people," meaning people like you and I.
I've always thought that if these damn "spread the wealth" liberals were serious they should put their money where their mouths are. Are they going to vote to lower their own Congressional salaries to $30K to save the taxpayers money? or keep their pay at current levels and donate 60-70+% of it to charity? Is Biden going to sell his lakefront home and donate the proceeds to the poor and downtrodden in Wilmington? Is Barack going to donate hefty sums of his own income to folks in Kenya (his brother perhaps?) HELL NO.
By the way, if you haven't read Rand's "The Virtue of Selfishness" you really should. It even has a chapter discussing that evil word "Racism."

Just How Bad is Wilmington?
To put this in perspective, Wilmington has a population of ~73,000. For comparison, Philadelphia has a population of approximately 1.4 million or roughly 19 times the population of Wilmington. Standardizing for population difference that'd put Wilmington at ~437 homicides for a city of Philadelphia's size.
If this keeps up that means that the murder rate here is somewhere between that of Philadelphia and Chicago. What great company to be mentioned with.
I don't have to remind readers that Delaware (and Wilmington) have relatively little gun control compared to Chicago or Philly. It appears people are being murdered at a fairly steady pace in all 3 cities despite the difference in gun laws. Shocking!

Comment #2 by Paul is good too. He asks,
"Who are Barack Obama’s positive relationships, that he does not have to throw under the bus?"
Good question. That'd be one damn short list, since he seems to have thrown anyone he's ever associated with under the bus.
Oh, and for another thing you can list under "thrown under the bus." Remember public financing? Yeah, Obama was the 1st to refuse public financing since it was enacted post-Watergate. In doing that he threw the public financing system "under the bus,"refused to work "across the aisle," and blatantly flip-flopped on the entire issue.
In April he told Fox News
"I have promised that I will sit down with John McCain and talk about how we can preserve a public system."
He then opted out of public financing after McCain had already accepted it, effectively tying McCain's hands so far as his ability to raise campaign funds.

Wonderful News in the 1st State........
Looks like the DSP is doing exactly the kinds of things us gun owners worry about. Keeping a database of purchases and denying purchases based on completely arbitrary and discriminatory criteria.
Words can't describe how miffed I am right now, but I'm at work so no long post yet. I can't believe Robb beat me to this. I'm slacking.
I'll update this later, maybe at lunch.
Looks like the the DSP and Nefosky need to re-read the Delaware Constitution, particularly this passage from Article 1, Section 20.
"A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home. and State, and for hunting and recreational use."
Imagine if this woman had been denied the right to vote because a State election worker decided she was "too old and senile." The local (and national) press would have a field day and we'd hear from the ACLU within hours. This deals with infringement of the one civil right the press hates, so for the most part it'll be quietly swept under the rug and ignored by the MSM. Imagine that, a story of police misconduct and civil rights abuses will be ignored by the MSM. Only in the realm of gun rights would that be possible.
UPDATE - Miss AO asks,
Why Would a 81 Year Old Woman Want a .22? and she links to an article in today's Delaware Online detailing a home invasion of an 85 year old man. Boy, why WOULD an old lady want a gun for home defense in little old Delaware?

I'm Dying A Little Bit Each Bite
Pat's menu says,
"Fries smotred with bacon, cheddar, provolone and mozzarella cheese. Served with ranch dressing. "
All I have to say is that they're scrumptiously delicious! I could eat them everyday, but then I'd be dead by 30.

"If he's really set on a .40 S&W I'd recommend a P229, which can be cheap if you buy a CPO."
and I find this, which looks to be a hell of a deal, especially since it comes with night sights and three 12 round mags. He's got quite a selection of Sigs, including W. German P220's, a nickel P220, non-railed CPO P229's in .40 S&W and a CPO P220R.

More on Obama's Connections
official in Chicago, participated in two training sessions for 50 volunteer leaders. "
The fact that Obama voluntarily chose to associate with such a despicable man scares me, and it's one of many things which have lead me to seriously question Obama's judgment. Obama has a history of associating with these kinds of people, and we find him constantly having to throw them under the bus. Even if Ayers were not a terrorist his radically left ideology should be enough to scare most people away.......unless they themselves subscribe to a hardcore socialist ideology.
In a 1997 issue of the University of Chicago Chronicle discussed those who would speak at the University regarding juvenile justice. The article sheds some light on the Obama / Ayers connection that makes it clear he's not just "some guy in my neighborhood."
A few key excerpts from the article.
"Ayers will be joined by Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the Law School, who is working to combat legislation that would put more juvenile offenders into the adult system."
I can think of many Americans who would outright refuse to speak at an event where they'd be speaking alongside an unrepentant terrorist. Then again, Obama went to church for 20 years with a vile, hateful pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. His best defense was to say that he never heard Wright say any of the disgusting remarks that we all saw on the news. Obama says he attends church roughly twice a month. Over 20 years that's ~480 sermons and Obama wants us to believe that not once did he ever hear Wright say "Fuck Whitey" or "God Damn America" or anything else objectionable or offensive. Sorry, but anyone with even a little common sense would find that highly unlikely. If Wright found such statements perfectly acceptable to spew from the pulpit there's no way he didn't have a similar tone and message or make similar statements at a single one of the ~480 sermons Obama attended.

Joe The Plumber
The media goes on full attack in an attempted character assassination of this man who dared question "The One." They've done more vetting of Joe in the last few days then they have of Obama since this campaign began. This is the same media who won't bring up Obama's ACORN associations or support and endorsement he's received from the radical left via the U.S. communist party and the New Party.

The Obama Supporter....
Yup. He's a good guy who I have frequent discussions with at work. On Tuesday we ended up chatting about guns for about an hour. Now given our prior political discussions, which sometimes involved gun control, I wouldn't have taken him as a potential gun owner. I think sometimes those of us who are fervently pro-gun need a reminder that the general public has a lot of general ignorance and has been pumped full of a ton of misinformation on the subject. When you're talking to someone who fits that description they may not necessarily be anti-gun, but they spout anti-gun talking points because it's all they've ever learned.
Anyway, he's a young, smart, articulate black guy (despite being an Obama supporter) and he does an A/V editing / production gig on the side up in Philly in some not so nice areas. That and he had a friend who was recently robbed and shot in the back in Philly.
He had gone shooting at Targetmaster recently and wanted my advice on what to buy. Frankly I told him to do exactly what I didn't. Shoot as many guns as you can and buy the one you shoot best. He was looking seriously at a S&W Sigma .40, which I tried to steer him away from by saying that if you're buying something for carry/defense you want it to be reliable.
We also discussed ammo prices, concealed carry, OWB / IWB carry, deadly force laws and a bunch of hypothetical situations. (I wanted to get across the proper mindset if you're going to own/carry a gun. Avoidance & conflict deescalation) and I showed him my CCW permit. He had a lot of questions which I hope I was able to answer well without confusing him.
If he's really set on a .40 S&W I'd recommend a P229, which can be cheap if you buy a CPO. It was fun getting to have an open, engaging conversation about guns with someone I didn't expect.
I'm sure I'm leaving out quite a bit of what we discussed. Oh, and I told him to ditch the teacup grip, though my knowledge of what "proper grip" means is likely somewhat limited. I'm sure we'll be talking some more once he gets closer to actually picking out a piece.

Quote of The Day
-Justice Douglas - Griswold v. Connecticut
Imagine how expansive we could interpret the 2nd Amendment if it had penumbras that emanated to help give it life and substance.
Griswold established the "right to privacy." In Griswold specifically it was a right to "marital privacy" where the court invalidated a state law against the use of contraceptives. Griswold is an interesting case if you ever get the chance to read it, and if you do read Black's dissent. What you'll start to notice, especially with Black, is that his being a strict constructionist ends up creating logical inconsistencies that become apparent in his other opinions.

Another?
Now if I just had a light this would be a perfect home defense carbine. Can you mount a light on the standard handguards?
I know Mike of Guns & Shit asked for pics of the 512, so I'll update this post with pictures of both AR's and their respective optics.
On another note - McCain did pretty badly in the last debate. Based on that performance I think if he'd gotten the town hall debates he wanted all along this whole thing would have been over by now. Obama thoroughly trounced McCain in the debate, and McCain had so many openings where he could have thrown some punches but didn't. I don't get it? It's almost as if he wants to lose.

Change We Can Believe In
Here's the relevant part of the above article.
Another strong supporter of Obama's work--as an organizer, as a lawyer, and
now as a candidate--is Madeline Talbott, lead organizer of the feisty ACORN community organization, a group that's a thorn in the side of most elected officials. "I can't repeat what most ACORN members think and say about politicians. But Barack has proven himself among our members.
Obama says he "never organized with ACORN." Should we believe what Talbott said back in 1995, or take Obama for his word now that he's running for President and needs to distance himself from the organization for the sake of political expediency?
BTW - It took me only ~2 minutes to find this via google. Any journalist in the MSM could have found this with ease, looked at Obama's "Fight The Smears" piece on ACORN, and run something exposing him as a liar. (even if it was just some 20 second blurb) Unsurprisingly you find the MSM instead spends its time defending Obama and attempting to shoot down these affiliations and criticisms at every opportunity.
