Don't miss BB & Guns tonight at 7PM Eastern. Bonnie & Breda will be discussing killing and eating Bambi and Little Bunny Foo Foo. I bet they taste good wrapped in bacon!
Unfortunately I won't be around tonight to catch the live show, but remember you can always download episodes from iTunes for the bargain basement price of free.

Yes It's Bacon!
Here's an illustrated book that asks the all important question, "Is it Bacon?"
What I really love though is the book description, which reads,
Yeah, that sounds like quite a few folks on my blogroll. In Alan's case we can replace the word "bacon" with "iPhone" or any other major Apple product.
No one ever "gets over" zombies though. The moment you let your guard down your best friend will turn on you and eat more than just your precious bacon!

There's a Gun In This Video?
Carry for the ladies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogGBPVk5GQk
This video really shows you just how well a small revolver will conceal. A thigh rig also looks to be an excellent option when wearing longer skirts and / or dresses.
Personally I can't do ankle carry, but if that works for you it certainly offers great concealment. I'm also a huge fan of pocket carry for snubbies, but that's simply not an option given the pockets of most women's clothing.
All in all this is a very informative video for any ladies who are new to or considering CCW.
You can see more of her videos here.

Quote of The Day - Subversive Revolutionaries
"I really didn't realize the librarians were, you know, such a dangerous group. They are subversive. You think they're just sitting there at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them."
-Michael Moore
That is quite possibly the smartest thing Michael Moore has ever said.
Found here while looking for reviews of "The Last Lecture"
Knowledge is power, so it only stands to reason that librarians would be dangerous.

Forces of Darkness?
New Jersey hoplophobe Bryan Miller says that us pro-gunners are "Forces of Darkness."
Huh? That can't be. I haven't even gone over to the dark side and bought a Glock.

Hey Dems, Take His Advice!
A strategy for the Democrats to win the midterm elections in November........... from Michael Dukakis. I can only hope the Dems are dumb enough to take advice from a guy who won only 10 states during his Presidential bid.

Hope N' Change?
The Delaware Way
How to get elected in Delaware
1. Announce candidacy (preferably not from the house of a former domestic terrorist)
2. Insert foot in mouth repeatedly. (even better if both feet will fit simultaneously)
3. Suckle at the public teat for decades (that is, when you're not busy with #2)
H/T to Alan & UJ.
*Wish I'd been in IRC for that one. I agree with UJ, if the Biden model holds true O' Donnell should have a great shot. She seems a bit nutty. Apparently here in the 1st state we like em' like that.

He Said What?
So I was watching CNN last night and was literally dumbfounded by what I heard come out of Wolf Blitzer's mouth. He actually said that American's blame Republicans more than Democrats for the state of the economy.
Yes folks, he said that and he had his own polling numbers to "prove" it.
Yeah, let's blame the party that's been out of power for almost half the decade instead of the Democrats, who are doing their darndest to drive the economy and the country over a cliff. Not that I trust Republicans to be much better, but if recent history has proven anything it's that they are in fact better, or more accurately not as bad as Democrats.
Is it any wonder people don't trust the liberal media?

Reasoned Discourse - The Final Stage
I see that anti-gun Brady Campaign board member Joan Peterson of Common Gun Sense has completed the Sad But Predictable progression that it seems all anti's go through when challenged. This is one instance where I'm getting tired of being right all the time. Just once I'd love to see an anti-gunner who can be honest, stand up and defend their beliefs, maintain a completely open comment section, and not exhibit intellectual cowardice.
Although I discuss it in my original post I probably should have listed as the final stage (#7) "retreat from the debate entirely" or "take your ball and go home." This conclusion was not the least bit surprising given her almost immediate reaction to criticism.
Joan Peterson has shown that the subtitle of her blog was a misnomer or a lie. She never had any intention of having a "thoughtful discussion" with anyone except those who walked in lockstep with Brady Campaign talking points.
I could no more expect to have a "thoughtful discussion" with her or for the two of us to find "common ground" than a black man would expect the same out of a KKK member. One cannot find common ground with bigots who lack respect for his fundamental rights. I agree with Roberta. If you do not respect my right to self-defense and my right to keep & bear arms as a basic corollary to said right, you are my enemy.
That said, anything I might say to Joan Peterson is not said to change her bigoted viewpoints. It is said in order to expose to the world the bigotry, intolerance and outright falsehoods she espouses on her blog.

Hipster Illustrated
In case you listened to last week's BB & Guns and weren't sure what a "hipster" was, the 3rd picture in this post is a good example. I guess we should be glad neither of them are wearing a speedo, right Bonnie?
I'll confess to just not getting Hipster fashion. I'd hope a real man would smack me in the head if I ever went out in public looking like that. (except for on Halloween of course)
For more unfortunate visuals visit LATFH.com, (NSFW) which Bonnie mentioned on the air. Personally I think the guy on page two with the crayons in his beard looks like Weer'd Beer'd with glasses.

Oh God! This Makes Me Sad
So I am chatting with my oldest nephew on Facebook right now. He's in 8th grade and linked me to his playlist. He had Nickelback on it. I mentioned Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Guns & Roses.
His response,
"I don't know them. Should I?"
Ahh, kids these days.....

WI Police Harrassing Open Carriers
The police in Wisconsin seem to have forgotten exactly what their job is and have decided to act as criminal thugs instead. Article 1 Section 25 of the Wisconsin Constitution states the following,
"The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose."
Amazingly enough, one of the men arrested in this incident was Frank Hannan-Rock. You may remember he was arrested for the "crime" of open carrying on his own property. He sued and was awarded a $10K settlement against the arresting officers and the city of Racine. I hope he and his fellow OC'ers sue in this incident as well, as they are already pledging to do.
Audio of the 911 call has been released and yet law enforcement still seems intent on making something stick because a few WI citizens had the gall to exercise their rights. They are now dropping the obstruction charges in exchange for disorderly conduct charges, as if that will make the civil rights violations committed by the responding officers somehow "acceptable."
Given the events that transpired and the 911 call, the arrogance and stupidity being displayed by the Madison police is unbelievable. They need to be put in their place, preferrably with civil rights lawsuits against both the department and each of the responding officers.
The 911 caller describes the men numerous times as being "extremely relaxed" and not threatening anyone. It was also clear that the caller didn't feel disturbed or threatened by the men. In fact, once she's been informed of the legality of OC and told the police are responding she apologizes for causing a problem for the OC'ers. Based upon the 911 call no officers should have been sent to the scene at all, as it was obvious to both caller and dispatcher that no laws had been broken.
As I've pointed out before on this blog, open carry absent other aggrivating behavior does not constitute "disoderly conduct. This was not disorderly conduct. Imagine a group of 5 black or hispanic men in oversized white t-shirts and baggy jeans sit down and have lunch at a restaurant in a predominantly white neighborhood. Someone calls the police because seeing minorities dressed in such attire is "unusual." Are they guilty of disorderly conduct? If not then neither are a couple guys OC'ing in public.
The obstruction charges being trumped up by the Madison police here are a complete fabrication as well. Citizens are under no obligation to produce ID upon demand by a law enforcement officer. How can I be cited for "obstruction" for failure to show ID when I'm not even required to carry said ID on my person? They have just as much right to decline to show ID as they do to carry their sidearms.
Frankly, I can't fault Hannan-Rock for telling the cops to get bent. Sebastian notes that the situation might have gone better if they'd just shown ID. That may be true, but the cops initiated this incident, not the OC'ers. The only people who broke any laws that day were the responding Madison officers.
If all that is needed for a disorderly conduct citation is that the behavior in question be considered "unusual" and "alarming / disturbing" by the offended party imagine all of the possible lawful actions that could fall under that umbrella. A woman mowing her lawn in a bathing suit. An interracial couple holding hands or kissing in public. A librarian with a prostesis going to the grocery store in shorts. A college student limping around campus in a huge walking cast. Hell maybe we could even cite someone for putting beans in their chili in Texas?
The Wisconsin Attorney General made it clear in this memo from April 2009 that OC is legal and is not disorderly conduct. You would think that law enforcement in the state would have taken notice of that sometime in the past year and a half.
Despite what the media might say, there is no confusion on this issue. It is legal, regardless of the ignorance and / or arrogance displayed by individual officers in Madison. I hope this teaches them a lesson but I'm not holding my breath. The cynic in me says we'll see retaliation tactics from the police as a result of this.
If 5 Madison police officers walk into a restaurant can I call the cops and have those officers arrested for "disorderly conduct?"

Ammo Shortage
The ammo shortage seems to be pretty much over in most calibers. Prices are still high, especially on defensive ammo. I'm just glad I can finally find ammo again.
I am, however, running into one major problem. I can't find anything to feed this little wheelgun. Any suggestions?

Listen Up!
My chili has beans, therefore chili has beans. I don't know what the hell the rest of you people are eating.
Oh yeah, Bonnie & Breda will be on the radio tonight at 7PM discussing some of life's most important and contentious topics including Glock vs. 1911, Pepsi vs. Coke, Drunk vs. Sober, and of course Beans vs. No Beans.
So, tune into Butts, Boobs & Guns and discuss what's better, T or A (actually we'd better leave that for GBC.) You don't want to piss Breda off on her show.

Old School Carry Loads
I have a 30+ year old Sig P6 and since these guns are known for having feed issues with JHP's I've amassed a good stockpile of Federal 9BP carry ammo. Federal 9BP has a long, excellent history in law enforcement use and is known for superb accuracy.
Sure, there are better 9mm carry loads available these days (HST's & Gold Dots in particular) but I wouldn't feel the least bit undergunned carrying two mags full of 9BP. One other advantage of the Federal load is price. They can generally be had for ~$20 per 50rd. box.
In comparing some of my newer 9BP boxes with a few 20rd. C9BP boxes I still have lying around I've noticed that the hollowpoint is different. My understanding is that the rounds are identical and that the "C" denotes a commercial designation for the 20 rd. boxes. However, the hollowpoint shape and construction are obviously different.
In the picture to the right, 9BP on the left, C9BP on the right
Again, 9BP on the left, C9BP on the right.
Anyone know if Federal tweaked the 9BP load at some point or if there's a significant difference between the commercial and law enforcement 9BP loads?
Lying to Win
The anti-gun position necessitates dishonesty. Their positions have always been based on lies and many anti-gunners are pathological liars. It's no surprise then that many Tennnessee restaurants that have claimed to have posted "no guns" signs have in fact not done so.
Wizard PC went and visited many of the businesses listed here as "gun free restaurants" and found that most did not have the proper signage required to prohibit firearms under TN law. So these places are opposed to customers lawfully carrying on their property but are too lazy to even put up the proper signage? That's just sad. Besides, don't they know how vulnerable they are to armed criminals if they don't have to proper "no guns" signs?

Heh
I didn't even notice it at first, but I posted a picture of bacon & dogfish (nom, nom) Then, in the post just above it I talked about baby poop.
My sincere apologies. Bacon should never be in close proximity to poop, not even on this blog!

Witch! Witch! You're A Witch!
I thought Liberals were supposed to be open, tolerant, and accepting of different viewpoints? So why all the brouhaha about a few lines Christine O'Donnell uttered about witchcraft in the 90's?
She was a teenager for fuckssake. I'm sure pretty much everyone on my blogroll did and said crazy stuff in their late teens / early 20's. Hell, I can think of plenty of really stupid things I did between ages 17 and 21, some of it fun but stupid, some just plain stupid. Also, these words were said on Bill Maher's complete joke of a show.
This should be a non-story. It's completely irrelevant. The only reason it's getting any play is because it's unusual and the Liberal Media are desperate to smear O'Donnell. (as is the GOP) Chris Coons fawning over Marxism has arguably more relevance than whether O'Donnell practiced witchcraft in her teens or what she does or doesn't like to do with her naughty bits.
The real question is whether Coons still holds Marxist ideals in high regard. It's a relevant matter of political ideology and thus deserves some scrutiny. The witchcraft and masturbation issues are meaningless given the context in which those statements were made. You can bet the MSM won't delve into Coon's belief in a failed political ideology responsible for more death and misery than any other in human history. They'll be far too busy attacking O'Donnell on superfluous issues.
Anyone want to take bets on which issue will get more airtime in the national media? And some people *cough* my grandpa *cough* will still sit there and try to tell me there is no liberal media bias, that the media is actually biased against liberals.....

Always Fight Back
Even if you're unarmed by the liberal idiocy rampant at University of Delaware and most other college campuses, you can still fight back.
Neither the perpetrator nor the victim had weapons, yet fighting back stopped the attack.
Also, here's another robbery of two female UD students. The weapon used? Pepper spray. The University's "no guns" policy does not stop robberies. It never has.

No Crap!
Babysitting went by without a hitch and to my delight I avoided any diaper changes.* In talking with Snarky I mentioned that in 12 years (13?) and 5 nephews I've never changed a diaper. She assured me that this meant a fun filled Saturday with at least one exploding diaper. Murphy never made an appearance. She was wrong. Ha!
It's amazing the endless enjoyment little boys get from using Uncle Mike as a human wrestling matt / punching bag and giving me playdoh mustaches. The Iphone fart app was a hit as usual. Also, Madagascar really isn't too bad for a kids movie.
The great thing about being an Uncle is you get to do all of the fun stuff and then send em' back home, even if that is a little difficult at times. The 2 year old wrapped himself around me and had to be pryed off. I must've spent 15 minutes getting hugs & kisses and running around to each side of the car to say goodbye. You'd think these guys saw me once a year or something.
*I still have memories of my oldest nephews crappy diaper. I didn't think anything so disgusting smelling could come out of something so small.

Ah, Much Better!
Earlier today Breda asked about zombie preparedness. At the time all I had to my immediate left were two pens. Good luck getting to the brain or brain stem with one of those.
Now? Now I'm much more relaxed. I've got a P228 and 31 rounds riding on my left hip. That should make for a nice big pile of cranially leaded zombies. Gotta keep Zack safe if they invade. I don't think I could handle having to do what Will Smith had to in I Am Legend.
There's also a bottle of Jameson to my left. Guns, alcohol & the zombie apocalypse. Oh the Horror!

Aww, Isn't That Cute?
You know, it's not often that someone drops a turd of a comment on a post I wrote nearly a year and a half ago. Given the content of said comment by a Mr. R. Stanton Scott it's quite fitting that it was left on my "Sad But Predictable" post.
His comment is as follows,
This was written by a man who fits the behavioral pattern I laid out in that post. Even more amusing, he consistently refers to me as a lawyer or law student. Not once on this blog or elsewhere have I stated I am a lawyer or law student and my profile clearly lists my current occupation.
Anti-gunners are sad and predictable but I'll be damned if they're not amusing as hell sometimes. It never hurts to have someone on the anti-rights side make themselves look bad.
His comment is as follows,
"Yes, one might expect a lawyer to back up his or her assertions. Since you never do, I guess you haven't yet taken that class in law school. "

Quote Of The Day - Constitution Day
"The Constitution and the Bill of Rights we designed to get the government off the backs of the people -- all the people. Those great documents guarantee to us all the rights to personal and spiritual self-fulfillment. But that guarantee is not self-executing. As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such a twilight that we all must be most aware of the change in the air -- however slight -- lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness."
-Justice William O. Douglas
Isn't it amazing that 223 years ago our Founders penned a Constitution consisting of roughly 4500 words? 4500 words to govern a nation and limit the power of government. Today we have a monstrous healthcare law spanning over 2000 pages limiting not what the government can do, but limiting what free citizens may do and placing obligations upon them. No wonder we need to kick em all out.

Hilarious Birth Control!
This site is for all you parents and for anyone who might be mulling over popping out a few destructive little rascals. It's like "Shit My Dad Says" only better.
ShitMyKidsRuined - It's birth control on Al Gore's intertubes!
My youngest sister actually did this one.
We were headed to UD for someone's high school graduation and my sis was driving my mom's car. Instead of backing straight out of the garage she put it in "R", cut the wheel hard left and hit the gas, taking out the side of the Toyota and the side of our garage.
Falnfenix knows all about the women drivers in my family (no offense ladies) My parents actually used to have a clause on their insurance contract expressly forbidding my oldest sister from driving any of their cars.
There's also a family submission from before I was born that would be great for the site if we had pictures. My brother had gone to the park for a barbeque over the weekend with mom & dad and decided he wanted to be like daddy. While dad was at work my brother found some old newspapers and matches and had a "barbeque" on the couch, just like dad! There's a funnier part to the story but I can't tell it for privacy reasons.
Crap! I'm supposed to babysit two of my nephews on Saturday. Hope none of my shit gets ruined.

The Stupid Party?
Perhaps that moniker should belong to the Democrats?
Do they really think Americans are that stupid? Seriously?

I honest to god thought it was a joke until Breda posted a link confirming otherwise.
Look you idiots, people already voted for "Hope & Change" and they're pissed about what they received. There's going to be plenty of "change" come November and that's what really matters.
Also, Robb channels Sarah Palin. Heh.

The Real Gun Culture
This charity shoot, organized to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Colorado*exemplifies what the "gun culture" is all about. Stories like this are unsurprising given the good character, charity, generosity, and camaraderie I've come to expect from fellow gunnies since joining the ranks less than 3 years ago.
No matter how much the MSM lies or the anti-gun bigots try to demonize us, the truth is out there. We are not the barbaric, uncaring Neanderthals they so often paint us as. Then again, anti-gunners are nothing if not dishonest.
Also, they get bonus points for having Halliburton as a participant for Corporate Day. That's sure to send the left into a tissy.
*Reminder, there's a UCP donation link on the upper right side of my blog just above the Sitemeter button.

Goodbye Castle!
Glad to see that gun-grabbing, Obama supporting, tax & spend liberal lose!
I can't say I'm a big O'donnell fan, but I'm happy to see that "vote em all out!" is under way.
Maybe it was all the false advertising that did Castle in? "true fiscal conservative?". Yeah, right. Pull my other leg.

Quote of The Day - Slumber Is Taxing

Religion of Peace!
In Iran, they're issuing fawtah's against Koran burners and anyone who "insults" the Koran. That's just the thing I'd expect from tolerant, peaceful folks.
Do I get extra points if I cover the Korans in bacon grease before burning them?
These Islamic extremists are barbaric. Calling for the death of anyone who dares to disagree with you, burns your book, or "insults" your religion is absurd. Who do they think they are, Laci the Dog?

I Knew It!
Jay is a goddamn dirty commie! He looks right at home in his furry, commie headgear. Hell, he's probably not even "stuck in Massassachusetts." I'll bet he was sent there from the motherland!
So Jay, where's your stash of Kalashnikov vodka hidden?

Hiatus
I'm taking a few days off. Please feel free to peruse the archives and hit up any of the wonderful blogs listed in the sidebar to the right.
It's Really Quite Sad
Peter & Paul and their ilk at the Brady Campaign are busy peddling the same old crap they've been pushing for decades. Their fearmongering, ignorant screeds are rarely even entertaining, since they simply keep reusing the same old alarmist rhetoric.
The anti-gun bloggers (what few there are) aren't fairing much better. MikeB was forced to bring a well-known & vile anti-gunner into his ranks who does the only thing he knows how. That is, devote entire posts to attacking any pro-gun blogger he can dig up info on. He has a particular fascination with Linoge.
Laci, a blogger who has consistently called for and celebrated the death of pro-gun folks has now adopted the Jadegold model for blogging. He's taken to writing entire posts personally attacking and even outing myself, Weer'd and others in the most childish manner possible.
I have to say his most recent post dedicated to attacking Breda was especially pathetic. I'll bet she got all of 3 or 4 hits from it, if that.
These folks are angry and desperate. Having lost the intellectual debate long ago they're reduced to attacking low level bloggers. I suspect the attack on Breda was simply a matter of jealousy since she recently surpassed 1 million visits since October 2007.
This is what the anti-gunners are reduced to, personal attacks that aren't even funny or original. I'm happy to see it, it means we're winning.
You know, just one of these days I'd like to be wrong and find an anti-gunner who isn't Sad But Predictable.
*no links for any of these folks. They get little traffic as it is and I see no reason to drive more their way.

Quote of The Day - Words to Live By
"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours."
- Ayn Rand
Easier said than done, but it's a great reminder and said so eloquently.

You Can Have My Dogfish Head
...When you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
A gangbanger tries to steal beer from a party, is confronted by homeowners wife, and then assaults her husband and pulls a gun on him when he comes to her defense. The husband reacts by pulling his gun and killing two gangbangers.
Lessons learned.
1. Armed victims can fight back
2. Don't fuck with a man's wife
3. Don't ever try to steal another man's beer.
Good riddance. Two more criminal lowlifes have now reached room temperature and this Arizona couple are alive and unharmed because they were armed. That is how it should be.
Detective David Ramer has the quote of the day, and a message to criminals in Arizona.

Damn straight! Armed victims are dangerous. Violent criminals would do well to remember that.

Go Read This!
If you read one thing today make sure it's this piece in Pajamas Media by Victor Davis Hanson. Virtually the entire article could be "Quote of The Day" material. It's that good.
I for one am not the least bit surprised by Obama lashing out. It's called narcissistic rage and it's something I've been on the receiving end of quite a bit in my 25 years. Obama is a narcissist, and narcissists simply don't know how to effectively handle criticizm. The only thing they know how to do is lash out at those challenging / criticizing them in desperate, vitriolic attempts to tear others down and bolster their own ego.
I expected nothing else from Barry once the veneer of Hope & Change and lofty expectations wore off.

Sad But Predictable - A Case Study
To all who are reading my posts: Mike W. has posted 6 of the most offensive and inane comments yet received by me on this blog. I will no longer post his comments but I will keep them in my files as an example of how rude and perjorative some of the gun guys get while trying to intimidate people about the gun issue. If any elected leader wants to know why they should not believe what they hear from the NRA, Mike is a prime example of the type of hyperbolic rhetoric that should not be considered valid in this "discussion".
- Japete of "Common Gunsense"
The above is the embodiment of the "Sad But Predictable" way anti's address the gun issue. Nothing in my comments was rude nor did I attack her personally, but then to an anti having the gall to dissent is viewed as an offensive and intimidating attack on the author herself.
A few minutes and 6 comments that contained not one bad word nor even a hint of personal attack and I get banned. I would laugh if the anti-gunners weren't so sad. Thoughtful Discussion" indeed......
Update - Joe Huffman points out that Japete is on the Brady Campaign Board of Directors. As usual the anti-gunners are in the minority and have virtually no grassroots support. Her real name is Joan Peterson.

Son of A B****
For my birthday my sister and her boyfriend were cool enough to track down some Bitches Brew, a brand new offering from Dogfish Head Brewery. Unfortunately there was so much good beer that I never got around to drinking the Bitches. Then, as I am wont to do, I left it at the beach.
I am so proud of my little sis. A few years ago she hated beer. Then her current boyfriend brought her to the Dogfish Brewery down in Milton for a free tour and tasting and she's turned into a beer connoisseur. Hell she owns sniffer glasses, a couple Dogfish T-shirts, and has probably tried almost everything they make. I'm an amateur by comparison, and yet no one would peg someone like my sis as a serious beer drinker.
As for the weekend, there was plenty of relaxing on the beach in beautiful weather, drinking, swimming and one happy chocolate lab. A fun but underwhelming night out in Dewey. (man, I am too old for this, also, Corona & Bud Select were the best beers at the bar? really?)
I'm getting to the point now where I'm much happier staying in a good part of the time with good company, good beer & maybe some rusty nails.
It was definitely a Dogfish weekend. When you're down in slower lower what else would you drink? Coors Light? I absolutely must get my hands on some more Burton Baton. It's an oak-aged IPA which packs a punch at 10% ABV. Amazing stuff that's supremely drinkable given the high alcohol content. I wish it were one of their year-round offerings.
Also, I hear this other guy had a birthday Monday as well and almost lost his iPhone in a lake. That would have been a tragedy of epic proportions.

From left to right, 90 Minute IPA, Bitches Brew, Punkin' Ale, Midas Touch, Burton Baton. What other Dogfish Head brews do I need to track down? I hate the 60 minute IPA, though it seems to be immensely popular. I think that's what Breda & Jay were drinking in Charlotte at the shin-dig.
Oh, they also have a limited availability brew called "Life & Limb" Breda, you absolutely must try this! It sounds sweet!
So, are you thirsty yet?

Cowabunga, Dude!
Upon seeing Breda's "Library Ninjas" post one of the first things that came to mind was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and of course one of the greatest videogames of my childhood, TMNT: Turtles in Time.
I don't know though, Battletoads was pretty awesome as well, if not ridiculously hard. You know, I still have my SNES but I doubt if I have either of these games anymore.
So, what were your favorite Super Nintendo Games?

Labor Day!
On this day 25 years ago labor ended and a little boy came into this world. He was blue, not breathing, and so small he could fit in the palm of your hand.
Had he been born somewhere else he may have been discarded as an "undesireable." Luckily he was born in America where he survived, flourished, and where he's free to piss off commies and other authoritarian statists on a daily basis.
Unfortunately for you good folks he got his got his hands on a keyboard a few years back and has been furiously banging away ever since. I guess they'll let just about anyone start a blog these days, even me. :)
More substantive posts to come, I promise! Have to get pictures off my camera first.

Buy Me Presents
It's my birthday on Monday, and I'd ask that if you're feeling generous please click on the United Cerebral Palsy link on my sidebar and make a donation.*
Also, I got a raise here at The Firm. A little less than half the raise I got last year, slightly offset by a much larger bonus. I suppose it's time to put that bonus away, ask my bosses to write some recommendations, get off my ass and apply to Widener.
*If you really want to get me something and you know my address then go for it.

Who Do You Work For?
Apparently Lieutenant Fran Healy of the Philadelphia Police Department has forgotten who he and the rest of the department work for. They work for us, not the other way around.
"Officers' safety comes first, and not infringing on people's rights comes second."
-Lt. Fran Healy
Sorry Mr. Healy, but if your officers are breaking hte law and infringing upon people's rights that delegitimizes the entire police force. I understand Healy's point about officer safety, but if you read the article you'll see that what we have here is a systemic problem within the Philly police department where the cops are acting like thugs.
Healy says,
"There's a lot of bad guys out there, "I want to use my time on them and not waste it on this nonsense."
OK, then don't waste your time by harassing, arresting, and abusing people who have committed no crimes. Only 1 of the 9 victims in the incidents mentioned actually broke any laws. The only people breaking the law here are the police. If you don't want to waste time on this "nonsense" then quit violating civil rights. That should be simple enough, no?
These "settlements" the city is offering aren't worth a damn thing. The cops treated these men in a manner that would get a private citizen thrown in jail for some time if they'd committed the same acts. The settlements are insulting, they're "shut up and go away" payouts that'll do nothing to change the attitude or behavior of Philadelphia's finest.
If the cops arrested me, took my gun and permit, interrogated & detained me for 14 hours and then refused to return my property I know exactly where I'd tell them to put their $3,500 settlement offer.
Also, the Florida "loophole" is not a loophole. It simply allows Philadelphia residents to get a Florida non-resident permit and use that to carry in Philadelphia. Given that Philadelphia routinely revokes permits for reasons that have no relation to violent criminal activity it makes sense to obtain a FL permit and continue to carry. That's what I'd do if my permit was revoked over failure to pay a few parking tickets.

Gunnie Sex Toys?
The Butt Rogers Uranium Pistol. Boy, this brings new meaning to the words "she was struck with the butt of a pistol."
The disclaimer reads,
"This product is a novelty item and is not intended to be used as a weapon or to violate any laws in your place of residence."
I guess that means it's not a weapon of mass destruction nor an "assault weapon"
As we're quick to point out with guns, they're just inanimate objects. What happens with them all depends on the intent of the user. I think that applies here.
I could see this causing quite the conundrum in Massachusetts . Perhaps they haven't banned it yet or there's a smaller "Mass-Compliant" model.
I stumbled upon this via links on two gun bloggers sidebars / twitter feeds. They shall remain unnamed. I might be the butt of a few jokes amongst the GBC crowd for posting this. Obviously the link is not safe for work.
They also offer concealed carry pieces with quick & easy take down for cleaning. Very Sig-like. Carry cocked & locked if you like, but make sure you keep them hidden ladies. Also, remember, open carry hurts the cause and you wouldn't want to scare the sheep.

The Great Equalizer
A 69 year old woman shoots a man trying to break into her house at 3 A.M. I bet he'll think twice about committing burglary again.
The gun control crowd would rather she huddle in the bathroom with a cell phone, wait for the cavalry, and pray nothing bad happens in the interim
The elderly deserve the right to defend their homes from younger predators. Good job Ethel Jones! I love the photo. Good trigger discipline and she has that "don't fuck with me" look.
