Luckygunner Ammo

I was contacted last week by the good folks at Luckygunner.com after I made a comment on Sigforum discouraging another member from purchasing MBI reloads. I can't in good conscience recommend reloads I've never shot nor heard much about, so they offered to send me some to review.

I've heard nothing but good things about Luckygunner and for them to stand behind their products like this is an excellent business practice. Remember, the ammo they sell is always in stock. If it's on their site it's in stock!

I had hoped to shoot this stuff over the weekend and post a review, but alas i'm still under the weather.

I'll hold up my part of the deal next weekend and post a review. Until then I have but 3 words.

Yay! Free ammo!

Corrupting the Youth

Nancy, in comments at Jay's, asks

"Is it so wrong that Sweet Daughter now yells "Look! I'm Rob Allen!" when running around sans bifurcated legwear?"

Thank god I wasn't drinking anything while reading that. See what you've done with your whole "No Pants!" crusade Robb? You've corrupted an entire generation of future gunnies. Susan will never be the same.

If pantless Robb ever goes viral I fear for the future of our country.... Please Robb, do not make a video and post it on Youtube.

Mongrels

President Obama transcends race, calls blacks a "mongrel people."

The only way you get a pass for saying something like that is if you're black, otherwise it's off with your head. Imagine if Bush had said it.

Sigh.

Quote of The Day - Self Reliance

"Never depend on another person to protect you. You are all you've got. "

-Breda

Simple, succinct, and absolutely the truth. An entire family was murdered by a crazy guy with a knife while the "good guys" with guns waited outside. It's disgusting but it's also fairly standard procedure, which drives home Breda's statement that much more.

.380 Auto Found in the Wild!

SGC USA has it in stock for under $12 per box. I'm not sure what .380 is running these days at Walmart, but this looks like a decent deal. I've shot some 9mm PMC with no complaints.

We Don't Need No Stinkin' Permits

Tell me again why we have a CCDW permit system in Delaware? I mean it's not like criminals in New Castle County think twice about carrying illegally.

It seems to me that the entire process is nothing more than an expensive impediment for those of us in the First State who aren't violent criminals.

Ugh

I feel like poo, no blog for you. It sucks too, because I have some free goodies to review.

Beware The Turncoat

As unc points out, we're winning. (Cue Sarah Brady crying) Many Democrats are jumping on the pro-2nd Amendment bandwagon. Some are doing it because they support our rights, but some are doing it because "all the cool kids are doing it!"

Don't trust them until they've proven themselves. If you need a definition of "turncoat" see Kirsten Gillibrand.

Still, the fact that they're forced to cater to us is a good thing, even if they try and stab us in the back later.

An "Oh Shit" Moment

Had this sitting in my Blogpress app and forgot to post it.

As I was walking to the fireworks on the evening of the 4th I suddenly remembered the weight in my left front pocket. I patted it and thought "oh shit!"

Id been pocket carrying the 432pd and for a split second thought I'd left the house with it.

This is likely the exact opposite reaction many of you would have, but since OC is my only legal means of carry in Delaware my heart skipped a beat at the thought of what i'd done.

In some ways this is an odd reaction. A person could, if so inclined, pocket carry daily with no permit and no one would ever know. I guess my reaction is just part of being a law-abiding gun owner.

Also, while I don't condone it I don't exactly see it as a travesty if folks decide to carry anyway in places where their rights have been denied. I suppose that's a topic for another post.

PMR-30

Looks like CDNN has Kel-Tec PMR-30's for sale! (see page 48) Oleg has been pimping these guns for a while now and it's making me want one even though they're butt ugly.

Now, I wonder if they actually have them available and not just listed in the catalog?

Backup Advice

No, this isn't about backup guns, it's about safeguarding the 1000+ posts I've penned here over the last two and half years. I don't take this blog all that seriously, as it's basically a leisure activity for me, but I'd still hate to lose everything. It's unlikely, but I suppose blogger could go tits-up.

So, what's the best / easiest way of backing up all my posts? (and comments too if that's possible)

I know most of you are bigger nerds than me, so I bow to your expertize.

Sig - For the Love of God WHY?!

I thought it was bad when Sig came out with their horrendous rainbow titanium finish. Now they've outdone themselves to make hideously ugly guns that also lack the overall quality and "to hell and back" reliability that Sigs once had.

I present to you the Sigarms Dragon This thing is a downright abomination. It's hard to believe a German gun company would put out something this tacky.

Hi-Point Testing Begins

Justin at Way of The Multigun received his free Hi-Point. It has begun. I'm anxiously awaiting his follow-up posts and I hope his gun stays in one piece

Personally I'd never buy a Hi-Point, especially with the plethora of cheap com-bloc pistols floating around out there. Weer'd and I handled them at the NRA convention and they were laughable. They're like big, ungainly toys, but at least the Hi-Point rep at the convention was hilarious in his enthusiasm for the brand.

As for Hi-Point, take a look at this thread. The slide material does not look like something I'd trust to contain an explosion. Look at how porous the metal is. Sure, any gun can kaboom, but you don't often see a slide fracture like that.

Cute & Furry Beer?

Cute, furry, and it packs a punch at 55% ABV. A UK brewer has come up with a beer that will be bottled inside dead stuffed animals. I'm sorry, but I don't want a squirrel or wabbit looking me in the face everytime I take a sip.

This is just so far beyond weird! It makes crap like blue butter or green ketchup look almost normal.

I'll stick with Dogfish Head, who just knocked out a wall in their brewery to increase production!

Radio Debut

Breda and Bonnie's radio debut is tonight @ 6PM on their new show BB and Guns.

Don't miss it! It looks like I'm going to miss the first half of the show, so tune in at 6PM and don't be like me.

A Little Birdy Told Me To

I'm now on Twitter, tweeting along for absolutely no good reason other than "why not?"

https://twitter.com/anothergunblog

There are also now share buttons underneath each post in case I say something that you absolutely must share with others right now. This is highly unlikely of course, but the buttons are there on the off chance I say something awesome.....or incredibly stupid that you feel must be spread all over Al Gore's intertubes.

Yet Another Violent Leftist....

"What is necessary is to raise the cost on the right of going after the left. In other words, find a rightwinger’s [sic] and smash it through a plate-glass window. Take a snapshot of the bleeding mess and send it out in a Christmas card to let the right know that it needs to live in a state of constant fear. Obviously I mean this rhetorically."

- Spencer Ackerman

And the left has the gall to accuse those of us who aren't Obama fanboys of racist, violent & incendiary rhetoric? Incredible! As usual we see that those on the left are truly violent and their constant accusations against us are nothing more than projection.

Read the whole thing from Daily Caller. I got a kick out of the suggestion that the left should use charges of racism against anyone who dare disagree with the "progressive" agenda. The "you're racist!" charge is the ploy of intellectually bankrupt children, which means it's a tactic perfectly suited for use by leftists.

It's almost as if charges of racism and threats of violence are the standard fall back tactics of those on the left. You'd think they didn't know how else to react to having their ideology threatened.

As for Ackerman, I'd remind him that many of us "rightwingers" are more than capable of defending ourselves.

Update -

Alan has more, including evidence of these progressive, freedom-loving liberals desire to have the FCC kick Fox off the air by pulling their broadcast license. I'm not the least bit surprised. If there's anything the left has it's a visceral hatred of dissent. Remember, the Obama Administration has already told us that Fox is not "real news."

Read the article Alan links to as well. It highlights even more of the hatred spewed by those on the left. They're scared of Fox because it cannot be controlled. Good. I want you all scared you authoritarian pigs.

Quote of The Day - Flying With Guns

Trust me, I’ve had sone doosies over the years, though. The best (worst) was the Delta counter clerk in Seattle back in 2000 who decided to “check whether the gun is empty” by pointing my Beretta 92G over my shoulder at the crowd of people waiting in line and then pulling the trigger repeatedly."

- Todd G. of Pistol-Training.com

On the two occasions I flew with a gun the counter clerks had no interest whatsoever in touching my gun. They simply asked me if it was unloaded. That's exactly how I want it to be. It's almost unbelievable that the Delta clerk would do that, but then we all know there's no shortage of stupid folks in the world.

Shooting & Cerebral Palsy - No Big Deal

The story of Kelsey Moral is truly inspirational. Well that and I just plain like good human interest stories.

Chicks with guns, teenagers learning to shoot, and a young woman who has no doubt inspired others through her words and actions. The shooting community couldn't ask for a better positive role model in my opinion.

Ms. Moral's attitude is what I find most admirable, and I quote,

"I have mild spastic CP - no big deal Mom!"

No big deal indeed. Way to go Kelsey!

I suspect I'd be pretty unstable in a kneeled shooting stance. Who knows? I've never tried it.

Old Is New Again

Breda and Bonnie are back on the air again! This time they're together for their own show B B & Guns.* It airs July 22nd at 6PM. Don't miss it!

Looks like I'm going to have to make an effort to get to the office early on Thursday's so I don't miss the beginning of the show every week. Hell, I need to get in earlier anyway, so this is a nice incentive.

Let's hope they don't have as many technical issues as Breda & Caleb ran into with BTR.

Bersa / Firestorm .22's

Over at Breda's most recent range report post Jeff made a comment about the .22lr version of the Bersa Thunder 380's.

I did a quick search of gunbroker and was shocked! I searched for months to find my Firestorm FS22 before finally finding a used one on gunbroker. Now there are a bunch of brand new ones for sale.

I still think they are a great buy for anyone with a Thunder .380 looking for cheap practice. Hell, they're cheap, reliable, ergonomic, and a breeze to field strip which makes them a perfect little plinker for anyone as far as I'm concerned.

Comp-Tac 10% Off Sale!

I have been meaning to buy another MTAC specifically to carry the P6's. Right now I carry my P6 in a P229R MTAC body.

Well Comp-Tac is having a 10% off sale on all of their IWB holsters until the end of July!

As you might have figured out from previous reviews, I'm a big fan of Comp-Tac holsters.

.357 SIG Expensive?

Y'know, one of the biggest downsides I consistently hear about .357 SIG is the cost of ammo. Is it as cheap and plentiful as 9mm? No, but then most major calibers aren't.

Here's a quick look at .357 SIG prices compared to .45 ACP.

One case of Prvi Partizan .357 SIG comes in at $359 from Aimsurplus. Since Aim has nothing comparable in .45 I'll go to Palmetto State Armory, where a case of PMC .45 ACP is the exact same price at $359. Georgia-Arms sells Speer Frangible for $300 and new .357 SIG for $310 Comparable Georgia Arms factory new .45 ACP is $400.

.40 S&W is just slightly cheaper, but then in my experience it's the cheapest common caliber of those above 9mm. Furthermore, virtually any gun chambered in .357 SIG will also shoot .40 S&W, so you have the added benefits of both cost savings and versatility if you buy a pistol chambered in either caliber.

I actually found .357 SIG both cheaper and significantly easier to find than .45 ACP during the Great Obama Ammo Rush. .357 SIG is certainly more expensive than most other major pistol calibers if you're buying it by the box, but if you buy it by the case or half case the price difference is negligible.

Besides, it's just a damn fun round to shoot!

Seaford Home Invasion - More PC from the Local Rag

The News Journal has a story of a home invasion that took place in Seaford (lower DE) over the weekend. The victims, a couple in their 40's, were attacked by three armed black men and the woman was sexually assaulted.

Notice anything missing from The News Journal story that's clearly included in the WGMD link? Oh right, The News Journal neglected to inform it's readers that the suspects were black males. It's ridiculous. Anytime a suspect is black The News Journal fails to include that basic fact in their articles.

Of course The News Journal has never been known for journalistic excellence. Back when I was managing editor of the school paper we would look to The News Journal as an example of what not to do. It appears they haven't gotten any better.

Also, take a look at the comments. There's a guy recommending wasp spray as a defense against home invasions. Seriously?! You can go to a gun shop and walk out with a gun in ~15 minutes. Who in their right mind would choose wasp spray over a gun as a home defense tool? This is Delaware not the UK.

Michelle Gets Hate Mail

Wow! I'd say I'm surprised by this, but then I've been the victim of an astonishing amount of hate and outright nastiness from Liberals.

I'm glad to see Michelle Malkin shining some light on liberals who claim to have the moral high ground.

I will say that she's far nicer than I am. I would not have removed Mr. Dunn's company name from his e-mail. Anyone who's that despicable and dumb enough to send an e-mail with the subject title "How Does A Dishonest CUNT Like You Exist" from his work e-mail will not receive sympathy from me. Actions have consequences and I would not honor his request.

Quote of The Day - Prayers Answered

I think of this one when I look at anti-gunners.

So Much For "To Hell And Back Reliability"

Both my Sig P6 and P229R seem to be malfunctioning in the same manner as Robb's Glock. Clearly something was seriously wrong with the P229R when I went to pick up pizza last night, as there was no bloodshed and the cute waitress at the counter didn't dive for cover.

Any suggestions on a more reliable weapon? :)

I've got labs times two this week since my brother's overly affectionate yellow lab is here. Wonderful dog, but unfortunately she's been suffering from uncontrollable flatulence the last few days.

Here's my big bear. People tell me he's got a huge head and looks like a bear not a lab.

As for further posting, work is looking like it's going to be downright crazy for the next few weeks, likely through the rest of July. That means light posting for now.

Quote of The Day - Dangerous Citizens

It is sobering to reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence.

- Charles Austin Beard

I like very much being amongst "dangerous citizens." They're exactly the sort that make this country great.

*I should point out that I consistently see two different versions of this quote. I'm not sure which one is accurate.

Phenomenal Customer Service

At the end of June ordered a few things from Condorsflight.com. They sell Bersa / Firestorm parts and accessories and I believe I've mentioned them in the past. I received a package from them July 3rd, opened it, and found they'd slapped my shipping label on someone else's package.

Here's where things get good. I e-mailed them back about the mix up at about 2:15 PM on Saturday. Within 15 minutes I had a voicemail from the owner of the company apologizing for the mistake and advising me that he'd get the correct order out to me ASAP. Another 20 minutes passed and I had an e-mail with my updated order info and a new tracking number.

The total time from when I e-mailed them to when my corrected order was out for delivery was roughly 45 minutes. It should be in my hands by the time I get home from work today.

As the title says, that's phenomenal customer service, particularly on a holiday weekend. Even though they screwed up, I'd highly recommend them if you need Bersa / Firestorm stuff.

Our Founding Principles

This is a disgrace to the principles of our nation, it's a disgrace to those brave men who founded America. Then again, I am utterly unsurprised by the words uttered, since Obama lacks an understanding of the basic tenets on which our great nation was founded.

I suppose it could also be that the truth is more insidious. Perhaps Obama understands our history and founding principles just fine and wants to change them? Hope & Change!

Voting rights, women's rights, workers rights? Really? Sometimes all I can do is hold my head in shame.

This is why I didn't listen to Obama speak on the 4th. Thanks a lot Alan.

I hope you all had a great Independence Day, aside from Obama's speech that is.

Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day!

Thank you to our seditious, right-wing extremist Founding Fathers. It's because of them that you're reading this as a free American without a bloody British accent.

Celebrate liberty, celebrate freedom, and celebrate the greatest country in the world.

The American Flag is Grafitti?

A painted American flag is considered graffiti in the U.S.A? Where in America could this happen? Why where else but the great bastion of individual liberty known as California?

Also, Caltrans says it's not supposed to be there yet it took them until now, nearly a decade, to finally get it removed. There's government competence and efficiency for you! Why not wait till after the 4th to remove it?

Quote of The Day - Advice For My Readers

...The whole handful of you that is.

"The best audience is one that is intelligent, well-educated, and a little drunk. "

-Alben W. Barkley

I Have No Words...

So I will quote one of my favorite movies to say what I think of the unbelievable idiocy on display from Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

" What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Well, except for the whole "may God have mercy on your soul " part....

Unemployment checks create jobs? My brain hurts now.

Maybe Pelosi has been growing and eating a different kind of mushroom than Breda has.....

Update, Newbie Shooter has a take on things ,

"By your logic, the best way to grow the economy is for EVERYBODY to go on unemployment. Then we will create jobs like wildfire. "

That's basically the logical extension of Pelosi's statement, which only further highlights how absurd it is. I say we use her logic right away. We can start by putting every Democrat in Congress and the White House on unemployment. Huzzah! Instant job growth!

Local Impact of McDonald

The News Journal says "Repeal of Gun Ban May Hit Home"

Naturally the fact that he might not have the power to strip Delaware citizens of their civil rights "disappoints" Wilmington City Councilman Kevin Kelley, who says,

"There is no place for handguns in the city of Wilmington," "I guess, as always, there is only so much a local municipality can do without the federal government intervening."

I park down in the hood, and I've seen people with poorly concealed handguns several times. I'll bet money that not one of them has their Delaware CCDW.

Frankly, given what our State Constitution says it should be the State who intervenes to knock Kelley & his fellow petty tyrants down a peg. They took an oath to uphold the State Constitution which includes a part that Mr. Kelley has forgotten.

A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and state, and for hunting and recreational use."

If Delaware citizens have a Constitutional right to keep arms for defense of their HOMES, then clearly that applies to public housing, and it certainly applies to the City of Wilmington. The Delaware Constitution applies to all Delawareans. It doesn't magically disappear because they happen to live somewhere where their overlords don't think handguns are appropriate.

More Anti-Gunners Advocating Violence

"But what if… hmmm… what if…. ahhhh… there was some way to cost the NRA something each time they “threatened to file a lawsuit” …. Maybe something that was beyond the law…. hmmm…

Let’s say a European was contracted to “ice” some of their high ranking officers, or even better, hit ‘em where it hurts… their families.. I wonder what would happen if we woke up tomorrow and saw this “just out of random” headline, Christopher Cox, 11250 Waples Mill Road , Fairfax, Virginia, was killed by unknown gunman… Walking out to get his mail, he never returned. Family found him dead by bullet to back of head”. If you are resourceful enough, you can guess exactly where the gunmen hid while waiting for his arrival….

Or how about this headline…. Funeral services for the child of John Hohenwarter were held privately in a closed session; the public was not invited nor allowed to attend…."

- Kavips

Yeah I know, I'm hammering away at a local bloggers old post. Still, when a violent bigot calls for the death of those with whom he disagrees I think it needs to be illuminated, particularly when the asshole in question lives in my own state. Is it any wonder he's anti-gun?

Seriously, he disagrees with the NRA, so he thinks "hmm, maybe there's someway these folks can be murdered, or better yet, their family members harmed." Words cannot adequately express how sick that is. I wonder if he'd say the same about local Delaware bloggers who dared disagree with him?

And the tree-huggers tell us we should respect all opinions equally? Really? I tend to think that some folks, by virtue of their words and actions, deserve ridicule rather than respect. I'm not saying you have to stoop to their level, but you most certainly don't have to respect them if they haven't earned it.

Quote of the......

Year? It's certainly deserving of better than "Quote of the Day" status.

"I hear a lot from liberals about how the right wants to curtail freedoms, we’re fascists yet when I look at where the liberal Justices ruled or dissented in those aforementioned cases I think it’s pretty clear who are the real curtailers of freedom and liberty.

After all when the State can take your property, restrict your political speech and disarm the populace, you really don’t have much left in the way of freedom."

- "Hoosierdaddy"

Now I'm not about to tell you that the right consistently comes down on the side of freedom, but it would certainly appear that the progressive leftists on the Court have routinely ruled against basic American civil liberties.

"Progressives" on the left are authoritarian statists, nothing more. They've proven this time and time again.
